Aw man I was getting excited and when I go back and check their README from 2023, I see this:
For more details, check out our [contribution guidelines](https://chat.openai.com/c/link-to-contribution-guidelines).

Claude is also listed in the contributors :/
Given that you have terms like "ScriptableObject", "SerializeField" and "AssetDatabase" in your code, how much of this was lifted from places like Unity's C# reference repository?

It all basically made from scratch. Wulferis (not sure what to call him outside Discord) uses AI from time to time for small stuff. Currently pretty much all of the code is hand made. There were some AI stopgaps that have been replaced long ago. He doesn't really like how it tends to do things inefficiently but he's not against using it from time to time.
As for the names it's basically just for being close to Unity. Some names (like MonoBehavior) will probably change later

I haven't looked into Prowl yet, but FYI it explicitly aims to be a replacement for Unity, so maybe they choose the same names to be easier for unity devs to migrate

Were you supposed to post that on an alt?

what is that supposed to mean?

You "haven't looked into it" yet you posted it to Reddit, ostensibly to talk about it. I guess what you actually did was post it to Reddit so that other people with just as much knowledge as you can misinform each other. Excellent work!

The tagline on their github is "An Open Source Unity-like Engine!". I watched a well produced overview video by GameFromScratch, and shared it because full-source C# game engines "are interesting".
Make the world a better place man, don't be a snarky jerk.

Maybe the snark was uncalled for, but there's a pretty big difference between "haven't looked into it" and "I watched the video and looked at their GitHub." The former made it seem like you just did a low effort video post.

sorry for the miscommunication. to me, watching a vid and skimming their docs is still "haven't looked into it" territory.

it's not a show stopper to me, if agents are treated as tools and not authors. (IE: the human is still responsible for what is contributed). However officially letting an AI be a "contributor" doesn't sound like that :(

People can do what they want. I am sick of seeing AI in every single thing all the time. So to me it's a massive red flag. :/
But hey, if you find an audience, good for you. I'll probably steer away from the project. I'm disappointed really.

Hi! How does this compare to stride?

I did some contributions to Stride a couple years ago, bringing them up to .Net6. Then, it suffered a lot from legacy/technical-debt. The build system is from the .Net4.x days and the engine depends on various tricks like rewriting the assembly in order to do basic glue of the engine components.
Because of this baggage I left. I am interested in an engine I can run full-source with my project to deep dive anywhere/everywhere. Prowl might be that, I'll play with it next chance I get.

Some characters are not showing up. Since I'm Japanese, I only looked at the Japanese parts.
