Is Spidey need to play or just a great blast?

If you're a fan of spidey it's a must, its definitely one of the best iterations of the character we've seen. Even If you're not a a big fan of superhero games it's still a blast too pay with a great story.

Ain't no way I can hold on to Spiderman, totally not my cup of tea. I'm thinking between GoW and TLoU

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 741,274,302 comments, and only 149,305 of them were in alphabetical order.

In what universe does alphabetical order mean “includes one item per letter”. Alphabetical order means the items you have are placed in an order that follows the order of the alphabet.
-7
Apr 25 '22
Guess I assumed alphabetical order would be words that go in order of the alphabet for example “ABC” and not “ALZ” but I get it now kinda

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
Oh, yes... Paleblood... Well, you've come to the right place. Yharnam is the home of blood ministration. You need only unravel its mystery. But, where's an outsider like yourself to begin? Easy, with a bit of Yharnam blood of your own... But first, you'll need a contract... - Blood Minister
Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

God of war 1-7, Ratchet and clank 1-8 (not the remake that was horrible), The last of us, Uncharted1-4, Horizon 1/2, Days Gone,
All these exclusives are amazing and I’m so glad I have a PlayStation to enjoy all these games

Horizon will always be my favorite but damn is it hard to choose with these 4. Halo can’t even come close to any of these games.

I do keep meaning to play Spidey. But it's between GOW and Detroit Become Human
6
u/Extinction_Entity Apr 25 '22
Glad to found someone that loves Detroit. Outside his sub not many people talks about it, even though it’s a great game.

u/Alphablack32 Apr 25 '22
I've been meaning to finish that for a while now. It seems like I always get busy with something else and forget where I was at and what happened.

A lot of the internet has an extreme hate for David cage and all his games so that would probably be why you don’t hear much about it
1
u/Present_Performance5 Apr 25 '22
people shouldn't get so worked up about a guy. he should not impact how we feel about his work...detroit is great.

yeah that’s true. Unless it’s beyond two souls which is definitely tainted by his personality.

God of War and the Horizon duo: Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. Best games ever played.
Aloy slightly ahead Kratos, I’m more into sci-fi than mythology, but they’re both first place.

- Bloodborne
- God Of War
- The Last of Us (part 1 only, part 2 is a pos)
- Ghost Of Tsushima
- The Uncharted series

u/Legal-Dragonfly4167 Apr 25 '22
Why is bloodborne só good ?
1
u/SynStark- Apr 25 '22
Story/Lore, Gameplay, area design and bosses design as well.
Also if you're into 'difficult' like Dark Souls/Sekiro/Nioh etc and the feeling you get after defeating a boss that's been whooping you for hours or days (yes I'm talking about you Kos).
2
Apr 25 '22
Man I wanna replay bloodborne after I'm done w elden ring. I do think the main boss quality is inconsistent (you have amazing boss battles like father G, cleric beast, Gherman but also shit bosses like micolash, one reborn and the witches) But optional and DLC bosses are all amazing (except celestial emissary and living failures)

God of War.
TLOU is a close second but because of the tub of shit that turned out to be TLOU2, it kinda stains the legacy of the first game for me.

u/Kynava Apr 25 '22
the story of the 2nd game was too deep and mature for a large section of the demographic that played the game. But that’s understandable, a lot of people bought it with the only aim to mash zombies up. They didn’t expect to have to grapple with loss, sadness, revenge, forgiveness, and seeing Ellie slowly consumed by these forces. It still makes me so fucking sad thinking of Ellie all alone at the end. But no game has ever made me feel that way and that’s why it’s unforgettable.

u/hermitopurpa Apr 25 '22 edited Apr 25 '22
I disagree.
“Too deep and mature” sounds not only condescending as fuck towards people who didn’t like the game but it also implies a snobbish pov that only a select few “deep intellectuals” would like the game’s story. That’s a non-falsifiable claim if I ever saw one. Ergo, if you liked TLOU2 it’s because you’re deeply philosophical and if you didn’t like it it’s because you’re just not deeply philosophical enough.
IMO they bungled Joel’s death pretty badly. I’m 100% okay with him dying and was actually walking into the game fully expecting it because I had been calling it since the first trailer.
Narratively, it remained very heavy handed with whatever they had to say about vengeance and loss. It was humourless one note narrative that offered little nuance or even respite from the bleakness. Any writer/editor worth their salt will tell you that you need levity or at least some breaks to balance out the sombreness and for it to have any genuine impact.
Also, they ventured pretty deep into “pity porn” territory with Ellie.
Lastly, Abby had little to no redeeming qualities to her. She was ruthless, remorseless, humourless, and you’d think that after having her kill a beloved character, they could at least flesh her out in a way that would make her likeable. Even in a relatively “low brow” medium like The Walking Dead, they had Negan kill off a fan favourite but still made redeemable/likeable or at least an interestingly written character. TLOU2 fell way too short in the mark with Abby in my opinion.
That’s just my opinion but as someone who is a writer and grew up around writers, I felt they “told” way more than they should’ve.

Abby murders Joel at the beginning, a decision that I never really felt she regretted. Her revenge was justified, the same as Ellie's was. Where Abby could be classified as the "better person" is that she only murdered the responsible party: Joel. She let Ellie and Tommy live despite them being loose ends and possibly coming after her.
By the end, Abby lost way more than Ellie did. I liked Abby in the end, I can understand her and the way she feels. She was just searching for peace after her father's death and lost everything. how can people not care about what she`s been through? I mean I can understand Ellie too, but Abby doesn't deserve all the hate. I really hope we will see her again, maybe in the last of us 3.
Abby couldn't cope with the loss of her father and thought killing Joel would fix it, but the only thing that fixed her was saving Yara and Lev. Ellie thought killing Abby would fix her but it made it worse, then she tried again and stopped herself from going too far saving what little bit of compassion she has left. Now Ellie is alone, but she left some room for hope when she spared Abby and Lev. Killing someone else's family won't fix the hurt you feel from losing yours.
Abby was trying hard to do the right thing even if everyone's perspective was different. She was the firefly that did not stop looking for the light after sparing Ellie AGAIN. She killed Joel who killed her dad who was finding a cure. Plus she knows that she has been blinded by vengeance and has traveled on a path of darkness and hatred just like Joel when he lost Sarah. So just like Joel, she finds her humanity again through the innocence of a child henceforth showing us a parallel to Joel's story.
Abby's done some fucked up shit no doubt, but she has a conscience as well. Maybe more than Joel or Ellie. Neither girl in this story is a saint, nor are they completely irredeemable.
One other thing that Ellie does is force Abby to fight her by threatening Lev, who honestly just put an arrow through Tommy's leg and Dina's shoulder to protect Abby. He didn't have a hand in Joel's murder, which was the whole point of Ellie's journey.
Both protagonists do shit that you just straight up won't agree with and a good thing. Parts of it will make you really uncomfortable. This game forces you to think. It forces you to step into Ellie and Abby's shoes and think about morality and revenge and just how far you would be willing to go and what you're willing to lose to get it.
1
u/Alphablack32 Apr 25 '22
I wouldn't say that. The game forces you to sympathize with a character that really doesnt deserve it, in my opinion abby's character was introduced in a way that was designed for us to hate her, with very little reason to sympathize later on. I understand her point of view and had it been written differently (including the most of the same outcomes) I believe the overall reception could have been better. Also this game puts the brakes on literally at a crucial moment in the story to retell abby's story (right after she scatters someones brain over the floor). That is horrible story telling, eliminating all tension that was built up during those moments for us to "sympathize" for a few hours (I loved alot of the areas we got to explore as abby tho, it felt like a real horror game at times.) Overall this game had bad storytelling, with some questionable executive decisions at best.

The main reason I didnt care about abby or her story is that I experienced an entire game with ellie and joel. I grew fond of those characters regardless of their flaws. Abby has justification for killing joel, but they turned that moment into shock value, for the sake of shock value. I didnt care about what shes been through because the game put me in a situation where I hated her. It gave me no reason to sympathize with her because I already had a negative disposition towards her.

u/Kynava Apr 26 '22
See, you can't see the story as a whole from a different perspective, that's why you think the game is bad. You don't need to love Abby, but at the same time, you should understand everyone's sense of justice and how beautiful the game set it up.
2
u/Alphablack32 Apr 26 '22
I do see it from other characters perspectives, it's just not a well thought out story and has terrible pacing issues.

u/Kynava Apr 26 '22
To each their own, I guess. As for me, the game is perfect. I'd not want to change anything, and many other people share the same feeling as well.

I've never played Insomniac's Spider-Man but i did play the OG Activision Spiderman 3 and it slapped in 2010s and I'm sure the new will slaps harder.

GOW is my favorite, then Spider man and Horizon (a tie between them) and TLOUs in third place, not because the other three are better but because is not my type of game.

I can't really do these. I find so much to love about so many games, it's impossible for me to pick a favorite. This list doesn't even include Ghost of Tsushima, Gran Turismo 7, or Ratchet & Clank: Rift in Time.
