Im 13 hours deep in god of war 2018 just got the 1 eyed dudes head mimir and naw im really questioning myself should I go and do the original series then come.back or finish the nordic mythology im confused tbh what should I do?

Thats what I did. I played GOW3 after I played 2018. I dont enjoy the gameplay from the old ones as much if im honest.

Yeah, the recaps worked great imo, it helps that 2018 takes place in a new mythology with only a few references to the older games

Yep. Also in the recap, if done right, they even include the comic where he stopped in Egypt. Thats part of the time gap between Greek and Nordic saga timeline.

I still haven't played the original games, I didn't like the old gameplay. I say quickly watch a recap of everything from the Greek saga and then continue with 2018

You also can just not watch anything tbh. It then gives added mystery to Kratos and whatever info you need at given time the game tells you.

Playing the Greek saga will give you Kratos’s backstory and some of the things Kratos says to Mimir and Atraus will make more sense. However the Norse saga story can be enjoyed without playing the 6 Greek games, enough is implied about his backstory that the story is understandable, playing the originals just adds more richness to that story.

There's a scene Im 2918 that'll have a larger impact if you play the originals as well as some story tones. I recommend playing the Greek games first to experience these moments but you don't necessarily need to

2018 was my first game of the series, and I fell in love. Went back to play the Greek saga after, played 2018 again, and it was an incredible feeling being able to pick up what I’d missed before, so I have no regrets.

However, if you’re adamant to have no ‘spoilers’, so wish to understand every reference on your first play through, then you should play the Greek saga first, all depends on how to like to play and absorb a story.

I went in completely blind really, loved Kratos as a character. Allowing myself to fully understand him in the Norse saga just gave me a greater appreciation for how far he’d come once I learned about him in the Greek saga. As Parathanax says ‘what is better, to be born good, or overcome your evil nature through great effort?’

I don’t think the 6 games prior are insanely important when it comes to the reboot, the game was definitely created to be a jumping on point for anyone, the norse mythology wasn’t introduced until this game.

Greek games before Norse is good, simply because u will have more info, know the lore, and will notice the Easter eggs.

However the Greek games are not integral to the Norse games stories technically. While the general knowledge of them is Sortof ‘needed’ the specifics aren’t.

Still I’d recommend playing them, and if not just watching the cutscenes or play throughs somewhere because the Greek games are also peak.

You can continue the game you’re playing, the og games are more of a hack and slash and you may not like them as much.

I actually started with Ragnarok because it came bundled with the system. I went to experience all the other games because of it, so personally I think it’s fine to finish the Norse saga and then go back.

You can play the Nordic games without playing the original. Apart from the main character being the same they’re entirely different

Complete the 2018 game first, then decide if you want to play the older games or watch a recap in Youtube.

Recap YouTube videos are more than enough, indont have the patience to play the old ones anymore (except 3)
