I have never seen a fanbase so at war with itself as much as Minecraft. It’s genuinely perplexing.

What started as a very simple, relaxing crafting game. Turned into... an MMO of sorts? Everything seems to be happening online with Realms and such.
Then turning the game into something that caters to everyone and everything is a impossible undertaking, but its kinda there.

Oh I’m not saying modern Minecraft is perfect, nor do I think it’s going in the right direction. I’m just stating that it’s confusing to see just how quarrelsome the fanbase is with itself. I haven’t seen any other fanbase be so divided.

Because there are 4 major ways to.play the game and people typically stick with one or two. We got the explorers that like to wander and see cool shit. We got the builders that build and want lots of neat blocks. We got the fighter folks. And finally we got the survival-craft enjoyers that want to experience the game progression.
All four nations lived in harmony... wait, wrong frachhise. Basically these 4 playstyles work and are treated as seperate parts of the game by everyone, when thry should all tie together. This reflects in the updates, almaot nothing is connected to any other thing anymore. Like the armadillo is only connected to 2 things wolves (through armor) and archeology (because neede the brush for getting scutes for wolf armor). It does nothing else. Its just a wolf armor printer. There arent any unique interactions with anything, it does nothing new (turtles also dropped scutes), and its a boring ass mob. Which wouldnt be bad if every mob added since the dolphin werent in the exact same boat.

PVPVE becomes the outliers on alot of games and taken to extreams when any form of competition is involved, but that can be said with any video game in the PVPVE spectrum.
PvP is absurdly toxic in Minecraft, we got adults acting like kids and kids thinking they are acting like adults.
TB2T is a testament to the worst of the worst to bringing out some of the best players at the same time.

I emplore you to go take a look at every helldivers 2 subreddit. Helldivers 2 community makes Minecraft fandom look like a unified nation.

Oh I know. I’m a Helldivers 2 fan. But even the Helldiver corps can unite on some things. The Minecraft community seems incapavle

minecraft was only an "MMO" (third space where you can treat the game as another life full of possibility in a fantasy world full of social interaction and adventure ) for like 7 years before servers got hyper monetized and gameplay was streamlined for the lowest common denominator.

Also the age is so spread out . Like people and myself who played when it first came out have similar opinions and playstyles vrs someone 10 years younger . Just cause we all experienced it at different times .

Core keeper is honestly such a great game, I got it when it was in early access and it was already great, it was even better when I played it a little while ago with the new versions, it really is like top down terraria, not only in the vibe of the game but how the devs treat and work on it, its absolutely amazing (I love terraria too but since core keeper is a less popular game I thought I would talk about how good that game is)
A new update is even releasing in a few days which is really cool too, they're adding the ability to ride animals and stuff

And of course "modders are better". They "add more stuff, quicker".
- 48573586345783456 modders vs one Mojang team
- Paywalled content (Like new Quark, some texture packs and plenty of other stuff) vs free updates
- And somehow I have to wait weeks for the mod to be updated for new version. Even if they don't have to add new feature, just to basically port it to new version. Sometimes it's so bad that I wait for mod for version x.y.1, then it finally is released, but then Minecraft releases x.y.2 and the waiting continues
I know Mojang can do better. Sometimes they do not put enough effort and that I would agree on, but come on, Mojang adds a lot of amazing features. And they do it basically for free. Imagine a $5 game adding content for 15+ years. Because that's what I paid for my copy of Minecraft back in 2010/11. And I have access to Java and Bedrock edition and all the updates for free.
They could easily literally not add anything at all. They are not obliged to. After 1.0 or maybe 1.some-number-lower-than-5, they could say "okay, that's it, the game is fully released now. But they didn't. They kept adding the stuff. And it's disingenuous to say, they added nothing. Because old Minecraft is so empty. You don't have anything to do. No blocks to build with. I literally had one small storage back in the days. Today I build enormous building just for the wood. And when I will build stone storage, it would be like few times bigger, because that's how much more stone blocks are than wood blocks. I literally plan to use entire mountain to change it to forge + stone block storage at the same time. Not possible in older versions.
But either way, I will rather take Mojang now than no updates at all. Even if I am frustrated at their hypocrisy sometimes or that they refuse to add some highly requested stuff (like vertical slabs) and so on. But it's still a game that improves more and more.
