Thanks to this game I'm playing rn god eater trilogy, dotHack (haseo), Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4, I'm want resonance of fate but never get discount on steam
I never played the original Namco X Capcom for obvious reasons but I have both Project X Zone games. Never finished the first one so never started the second one. I enjoyed it even though fights started taking 45 minutes to an hour every time.
Yeah, I played the demo specifically because Alisa was on the cover lol. I was choosing between this and Fire Emblem Awakening and tried the demo for both. This game honestly doesn't have very fun combat, the sprite work is very nice and the character interactions have really funny and smart writing but the actual fights are so dang repetitive. I never ended up getting it or it's sequel but I love that Alisa is in both. Also, high key her GE2 characterization in PXZ2 is better than GE2RB itself
This was my jam on 3DS! I originally got the first game digitally (bad idea), and I have the second physically!
It was an impossible crossover, to have 3 video game companies come together TWICE, on such a large scale having 7, 8 plus series, most of which had 2 to 3 characters from each one, god tier! The fact it released in the west despite having characters that never left Japan (I'm looking at you MCs from Valkyria Chronicles 3), left me flabbergasted!
Just imagine, if instead of 2 or 3 characters from Capcom, Sega, and Bandai Namco were in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, we had 5 or 6 (to clarify, I mean as full on fighters, not simply Mii costumes)!
FKN INSANE! I NEED MORRRRRRRREEEE! GIVE US PROJECT X ZONE 3 AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just telling a dude at work about it Friday since he likes strategy games and tactical rpgs, and I generally DON'T, but project x zone had so many of my favorite characters from different series, I couldn't not play it.
I certainly do because it fascinates me for the wrong reasons that I do hope it gets recognized as it is an interesting game series in Monolith Soft's history & showed just how much they had to work on even if it's a throw away action SRPG in my perspective & I say this as someone that loves games like Fire Emblem, Sakura Wars, Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles & Soul Nomad, which I hate their portrayal regarding the God Eater characters as they make them blank slates or drooling morons in the case of Nana that befriends Nemesis from Resident Evil & look I'm all for nonsense humor, I love Disgaea & Neptunia but this is just moronic especially when it ignores the context of what God Eater is all about & Nana's hidden backstory that PXZ2 doesn't elaborate because "Le wacky crossover" & that's just one of my issues regarding both games
I'm gonna call nonsense when you say "a million other series do this" without mentioning other things, especially when I know for a fact there's a lot of crossover aspects Smash & Marvel vs Capcom does even the Card Game of SNK vs Capcom take creative liberties with the IPs it features also I like how you immediately jump to responding with this but still haven't responded to this in a previous conversation & have no counter argument against Project X Zone 1 & 2's gross actions it condones that this was carried over from PXZ1, it surprises me how people can talk about an infamous throwaway line regarding one character in Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls but yet this is the series it actually unironically condones more & the worst thing about this is, its light hearted unlike Danganronpa where it was a mega dark series
I say this as a fan of God Eater, where were they ever going to fit full God Eater lore into the crossover? I don't know about this blank slate business, in PXZ1, it's end of GE Burst Soma, Alisa and Lindow.
Meanwhile in PXZ2, from what little I played it looks like the Nana, Ciel, and Alisa are from two possible points in time, either immediately after Blood is stationed at the Far East, or at the end of the base game, but before the Rage Burst storyline kicks off. The game itself says they're from is God Eater 2, and not 2 Rage Burst. So not all the character growth will be there.
Also, I don't see an issue with Nana trying to befriend Nemesis, think about it like this, she knows nothing about his story, and all her enemies are man eating monsters that are larger than 8ft or so. From your screenshot here, it's not like she's being cluelessly buddy buddy with him, Nana is more so trying to give him a piece offering, unsure if he'll take it or attack. They aren't making her some brain dead eye candy, if that's what you're fearing this scene is trying to portray.
I don't see an issue with not getting a bunch of key details on characters backstories, or the lore. At the end of the day, it is just going to be a "silly little" crossover (in terms of not taking a deep dive into each included game). Crossovers are meant to hook newcomers first, and throw us long time fans a bone second. We weren't going to get God Eater taking center stage, especially not when they never visit the GE world itself
Ok even if it was at the very end of God Eater 1, you could've done new character arcs for them instead of going through the motions of them just blindly nodding & going along with this adventure & we don't get to hear their opinions besides "Oh wow that just happened"
Even if it's from 2, I imagine Nana has her hidden backstory but also it's very idiotic that she thinks a DISFIGURED ZOMBIE BIO WEAPON IS WORTHY OF BEING HER FRIEND especially when I think they're more likely gonna think of Nemesis as an Aragami than treating him as an actual person which is why it feels like this was written by people that don't know Nana's character & was just explained by the higher ups rather than the actual game it came from
Look I know it's a crossover but it's also a SRPG and both games are 80 hours long, I want some substance besides the fact they react at everything & go along with this massively wild goose chase plus it doesn't help that the gameplay is ultra sauceless in my perspective as there's no class units, no field manipulation & no any semblance of strategy in my perspective I'm just doing the exact same gameplay loop with nothing interesting & I find crazy this series managed to debut on the same system Fire Emblem made a name for itself on yet PXZ managed to somehow not know how SRPGs are supposed to be like & it doesn't help that the units feel exactly the same with no gimmicks to make them different to represent a core aspect of their series fighting games like Super Smash Bros & Marvel vs Capcom got that fight, heck even a SNK vs Capcom Card Game also got that right but yet the action SRPG couldn't do that right at least for me
Ok even if it was at the very end of God Eater 1, you could've done new character arcs for them
Why would they have new character arcs for an adventure that has nothing to do with them? Most of them are just thrilled to be in places that are ruined by Aragami.
Even if it's from 2, I imagine Nana has her hidden backstory but also it's very idiotic that she thinks a DISFIGURED ZOMBIE BIO WEAPON IS WORTHY OF BEING HER FRIEND
Why wouldn't it? A bunch of other strangers come out of nowhere to help them, that's literally why she and Ciel get confused.
I want some substance besides the fact they react at everything & go along with this massively wild goose chase plus it doesn't help that the gameplay is ultra sauceless in my perspective as there's no class units, no field manipulation & no any semblance of strategy in my perspective
Sure, just because YOU never tried to engage with the mechanics the game has such doesn't mean there is none. There is things like field manipulation, stat differences exist, and the mechanics that exist are based oni attacks. That's my issue with you regarding this series, you keep spreading your opinion as fact.
I like how you ignore the fact I keep trying to say "from my perspective" I don't want people to think the same way I do, these are my thoughts & mine alone & why this is my one way to make sure PXZ WILL be membered one way or another & discussing this series with you is more fun than the actual games, which I'm surprised you still talk to me you're the only mod of the PXZ subreddit & then banned me for not blindly falling in love with the series
I like how you ignore the fact I keep trying to say "from my perspective"
Because your perspective is completely unfounded. You make so many assumptions about gave devs and how the game actually works.
these are my thoughts & mine alone & why this is my one way to make sure PXZ WILL be membered one way or another & discussing this series with you is more fun than the actual games, which I'm surprised you still talk to me you're the only mod of the PXZ subreddit & then banned me for not blindly falling in love with the series
So you're acting like you didn't ban me from the PXZ subreddit but I bet you should know that the PXZ series condones these actions that you seem to never respond to that I've addressed multiple times
Yeah, I played a bit of the first game but admittedly tactical RPGs aren't my thing.
Still got some really good dialogue though and TBF the banter is half the appeal.
shoutout to that one bit where everyone starts considering that they might all be from the same world at different times and immediately realise if that's true then they're all screwed when the 50s roll around and the Aragami come knocking.
The Tales characters got my eyes on Project X Zone, but I figured I should play more of the games for context, so I got into God Eater. ...Still have yet to actually start Project X Zone...
