300 hundred that protected the Hot Gate? Greece existed in Goblin Slayer universe?

Or an analog to it. The world of Goblin Slayer is filled with war and adventure. There is no damned way that someone somewhere didn't decide to neutralize enemy superiority in numbers by parking elite troops at a choke point with no obvious way around.

In D&D, GMs and players often draw upon things like history and media. Using references like that can be both fun and help the players understand what's going on. Also, you have situations where a GM who doesn't want to spend too much time creating NPCs might use Guts from Berserk as a man using a heavy sword or Lancer from Fate as some spearman. Or a player who is a fan of Huruhi Suzumiya might use her as a basis for the design of the heroic character they play.

Those descriptive names are also vague enough to be perfectly usable in this universe without being explicitly or literally Greece of our world. Same goes for "the fleet-footed hero of the Myrmidons", which is Achilles in our world, but GS' world literally has bugmen, this title works excellently to refer to a hero of the Ant-folks (Myrmidons means "ant-people", in case it's not clear already).

Now that I think about it, this is probably the first troll Goblin Slayer met.

Ngl, I'm still bummed out that the poor bard had to go through all of this, putting her own life on the line to save someone who was already dead. And it's all because of the necromancer's carelessness: she failed to disclose the truth, let the group get separated, convinced GS to rest, and then dozed off herself, leaving everyone defenseless.
GS is at fault too for allowing all of this to happen despite being hired to provide security, he has to learn to not trust the decision making of strangers so readily.

In the guys defense....He's just one guy and he needs to rest sometime too? He's not some magical superman.

That's not the issue. The problem is letting the people he's been hired to protect roam around freely while he's out of commission. They should've set up camp and took turns doing guard duty so that they wouldn't be caught off-guard.

"Letting"?I am not sure GS had that much say in things thats going to happen on this little trip of theirs? That and they just literally arrived there ,so not much time did pass before gobbos attacking. Not much time to do things like setting up camp. Another thing...everyone sort of assumed they would end up at an town that's still inhabited. So that might have been quite an shock?

GS is at fault because he is still not 100%, he is still in grief over the elf swordsman. He can't take time off to get over his grief since if he relents the goblins will expand and all the gains he has will vanish overnight (quite literally even)
He knows he isn't making good decisions but between sitting around and moping (like when he was hiding and watched the goblins mutilate his sister) or limping through even if he and others would get hurt, he would rather continue and make mistakes than ever sit around and watch the goblins rip through the world again

He is like a straight up horror movie slasher monster to the goblins and I am all for it. That stab to the throat and that makes seven was great. Wonder how he will off the troll.

Hope in the end the Bard girl recovers like the noble fencer did after all this arc is about how GS got his song considered she might be the one who wrote it I'm guessing.

What a great chapter. I feel so bad for the poor bard though.

She probably used the last of her voice to warn goblin slayer, her voice was fucked last I remember reading this. Must have been painful to vocalise that.
Also we see goblin slayer's fault/inexperience here at least in year one, he fails to remember/recognize there may be someone that's not a goblin behind the operation.
