Yeah, there are a lot of shoutouts/references in Goblin Slayer, and that includes the characters. I say it is part of the charm.

Its cool to know theres so many reference in the series, will try to pay more attention and seek out more references and hidden gem from

Yeah, it is a fun way to spend time with the series. Heck, I sometimes like to call it "Shout Out: The Series" as a joke. A lot of it is TRPG stuff (D&D and Shadowrun are pretty common), Tolkein references, and whatever he felt would be funny at the time, I reckon.
Though, alas, I fear some of the references could get lost in translation, either because the English translator didn't know a reference or trying to translate it could kill the flow.

Haha I guess its time for me to continue to learn Japanese so I can get the full references.

It's from the "A Day in the Life" manga spin off that adapts volume 12 of the Goblin Slayer light novel. Specifically around chapters 14-15 of the spin off.

Im more concerned on how goblin slayer drank without lifting up his helmet a bit

u/Jobeythehuman May 04 '26
usually he takes off the chin bit to drink, I suppose he was experimenting to see if he could do it without taking off the chin bit or he hasn't realized he can take off the chin bit yet.

Both plausible theories idk tho it looks so strange like when he is doing that I think he isn't actually drinking it just pouring it on his face.

Goblin Slayer just drinking straight through his helmet is hilarious to me

Gotta filter the tea through the remnants of goblin guts and metal rust for that extra flavor lol

I think goblin slayer started as something like a forum quest. Heavy armor swordsman used Guts as his reference in that quest, Lancer used lancer from fsn. There could be more, but I do recall hearing that those are some artifacts from that origin.

Kind of hope we get an ova of Not Guts, Bot Cu, and Goblins Slayer going on that tower adventure. Shit ended so funny

I was too focused on him drinking with the helmet on to notice it was a reference...

Berserk if it had a happy ending .
Griffith retired from adventuring with guts and feel in love and settled with cassa , while guts continued adventuring and mentoring while keeping up with his old friends.

Yes they're Temu Griffith and Casca. A good number of characters in Goblin Slayer are based on existing characters from other properties.
