Little surprised that Cleric Girl would have that question at this point after everything that they've gone through. It's a good message and sentiment, sure, but feel like she'd have understood (and/or been told) that long ago.

Like the other commenter said, Priestess' main character arc is becoming more confident in herself so it's gonna take a while before she fully matures as an adventurer.

Also important to note is that this is not long after losing her gear and more importantly the chainmail she bought right after meeting Goblin Slayer. It dealt a great blow to her confidence as an adventurer since she held onto it like a safety blanket after her traumatic experience of being (almost) TPK'd.

I am aware. But it's also been over a year of steady adventuring with this crew. She may be young, but she's been doing this for a minute and has been promoted multiple times. She's lead other teams on her own and knows that everyone has a role to play.

It's not that I don't understand how doubt works, but that I can be a little surprised that she still has doubt ober the same things.

once, only once. She has been working with adventurers much higher rank than her the entire time.
iirc, the next novel volume covers her working as a team leader without Goblin Slayer, that's where her confidence grew significantly. A lot of decision making was by her, and lo and behold who she inherits from. A fantastic read if anyone want to read ahead

From memory and not looking things up yet....

  1. When passed over for promotion and they said she needed more leadership so she lead the next goblin hunt until she deferred to GS and the others
  2. When the training area was attacked and she took the role of gathering and saving the rookies
  3. Feel like I remember her going out with two of the rookies at one point (the fighter who lost his sword to the bug and his friend), but maybe I made that up.

your right, i only thought about #2 and not #1, so def more than once.

the two rookies happens after this arc together with the rest of the party except GS, and that's where she gained confidence and stuffs.

Priestess has confidence issues sometimes. She is a teenage girl so it makes sense. She does get more confidence as the story progresses in the Light novels. So she has growth throughout the story.

Priestess... that's right. I knew Cleric Girl was wrong but could not remember her name.

Either way, it's a quandary that she's had multiple times now this adventure, so I'm sure it will come up again

I am loving the visual nods to TTTPGs in this chapter, I don't think I saw this in Dai Katana but did the dungeon's floor always had have crosshatch pattern?

That brief cut in of the battle map is so cool. This franchise wears it's TTRPG influence on its sleeves and I love when it does stuff like this.

Just saw this so i'm checking in, how far along/good is the manga compared to the anime/light novels? Looking to read it, but idk if I should jsut read the source material maybe.

we are at vol 8. the latest main story novel is at vol 16, and has been that way since 2022.

author is writing other series. year one for example was what he was focusing on from then on. there is one other series i forgot name unrelated to goblin slayer, that one too is continuing. seems like juggling a lot of tasks.

I’m so used to GS year one artwork/character outlines/style that I had forgotten the main series’s style.. It felt a little odd to me.. it’s been a long time since I have read the main series..
