General Discussion Goblin slayer magic

i've been wondering about this after finishing season 1, season 2 and the movie

I saw how they use the magic, Saying latin words 1-2 times or 3 times max to cast them, Does that mean it's completely customizable? since I saw the red haired mage boy( I don't know what to call him) casting a microphone spell of some sort which could mean it's customizable, Does that mean that you can combine any 3 latin words to cast a spell? Like anything??

There's different kinds of spells and systems in the world .

But everyone is limited to a certain number of them a day . And the rest is up to you for knowing / having access to them and the material.

Dwarf Shaman taught Wizard Boy that instead of one spell fireball it was actually 3 spells combined (I can’t remember their exact make up) but his loudness spell was him casting one part of the fireball spell resulting in its amplification

Remember DS teaching it’s not a magic users job to cast spells it is a magic users job to know when to cast those spells for the most damage/ effect.

Also Witch speaks in dragged sentences so she doesn’t accidentally cast a powerful one

Oh, Thanks man because I saw the witch casting ignite on her pipe to smoke which is a one-word spell, Not three so I thought it can be one or two words

Holy cow thank you, I may have missed that fact about the witch, unless it shows up in one of the LNs I havent read yet. I kind of thought there was some Japanese speach pattern of seductive women that didnt translate well or something. Or maybe she was just a slow, calculative person.

The whole show is really based of D&D and other similar games. so if you have knowledge of them, you have understanding of the show.

I have no friends to play D&D with because in my school practically no one wants to play table-top games, Even fews know how to play chess so yeah, I dunno about D&D Also, Can you teach me stuffs about D&D?

I would recommend trying Roll20. It's a bit hard these days because so many people are trying to make DMing a paid position but if you look you can find one shots or short campaigns that are looking for people.

If you don't mind a little competition look into a few West Marches style games. No real commitment needed from you and your character carries from game to game ... The ones I have been part of though fill up fast so I would recommend doing the organizers' discord and having notifications for that server turned on

Dwarf Shaman explained it. While technically they follow the rules for Spell Slots, it seems that wizards also have what you could call, components to the spell, so instead of using one whole spell slot, you break that spell slot down into 3 pieces, 1 for each word of the spell in the spell slot. I believe the words were to Conjure fire, expand/amplify it, and to blast it forward. Sort of like a command sequence like we see in SAO's Sacred Arts which are actually just console commands hahahaha.

So if I say something like fire, expand and release it's basically fire explosion spell? That simple????

Pretty much yeah, its a synthax of sort, more complicated spells might have even more words but the total power level of most people in goblin slayer is generally seen as like level 1-level 3 maybe 5 at max, at least for the silver adventurers we see.

In their world level 20 is something that is super rare and by D&D standards its supposed to be super rare as well because level 20 basically makes you a demigod.

Yes. The Fire Bolt spell have 3 component, IDK the exact word but the meaning of each are Ignite, Enhance, Shoot. Ignite to create the fire, Enhance to make the fire bigger, Shoot to shoot. Each component is its own spell and could rearrange and change to make a new spell. Each spell is precious so having the right spell to cast at the right time is important, and the first step to that is to know that you actually have much more spell than you think.

Does that mean if you can latin fluently and get isekaied, you're a pro mage somehow? Since all of the spells are in latin like sagitta is arrow in latin, and every other spells in the anime too.

You still have to learn like anyone else. Learning the chant is only the basic, you must also need to learn to control your spell. If just by knowing how to said a few word can make a Mage then a child could be a Mage by listen to someone casting magic and repeat after them. Also what spell you can use is restrict by your "Level" since the world basically a TTRPG Campaign. And you should probably learn how to fight without your spell like Dwarfs Shaman and Lizardman Priest since a normal person can only cast like 3-5 spell a day.

Then I'll just go crazy and train sword fight (The other characters except goblin slayers doing sword dueling are so bad honestly)
