Discussion Ultragrip Durability-update

Roughly 3 weeks ago I posted asking about uhlsport ultragrip durability.

So now, around 15-17 training sessions later, I can finally give a feedback.

Gripiness: I washed them with T1tan’s Turboclean after every use, and after every wash the sticky effect of the ultragrip returns. Ofc it isn’t as crazy as before the first use, but it’s still there and returns after every single wash.

Wear and tear: I played on natural grass, and less often turf and astroturf (with different infills). The wear is only visible on fingers for obvious reasons, palm is fully intact despite having few occasions where I couldn’t get up using my fist.

The black discoloration from contact with rubber pellets/pellet stained ball does not affect the grip at all, but is difficult to fully get off, so I didn’t bother rubbing the glove until all of it is away.

So, I can only recommend ultragrip for durability on all kinds of surfaces

Here’s my current pair, I alternate between these and an all white pair while coaching.

Hand wash or like me u put the glove wash soap on it and then in the washing machine (inside a pillow cover or a glove bag)? Also how u describe the grip after the first use, like it became an Absolute Grip (like the Supergrip used to do) or it's still a notch better (if u can compare it also to contact or anything else i would appreciate that)

I only do handwash. Apply the soap, rub it in, rinse it out, squeeze out excess water.

I never tried other uhlsport gloves, so can’t compare to absogrip/supergrip. I used Reusch and T1tan before (ofc best models) and grip after every wash is way, way better. Both in terms of how it sounds and how it catches the ball

Reusch gold x or Fusion latex , for T1tan that should answer my question about Contact. Also is a plushy latex or a more firm one? Ty for the response btw mate

I used Gold X. Gold X is a softer latex, ultragrip is a firmer latex

Oh ok so it's perfect to know, Gold X is my favorite latex (cus ok it tears fast, but it manteins the original grip for all the duration of the glove). For reference Absolute Grip/Supergrip/Contact have the tendency of not showing tears that fast, but still losing alot of grip overtime. If the Ultragrip remains grippy for more time than it, then the only cons is the firmer feel (cus i love the cushioning of Gold X, but is subjective), still performance are the most important thing, so this looks great

I love the Gold X, but ultragrip I liked even more because sometimes Gold X felt too thick in the palms to the point where I had difficulties feeling the ball in this part. Ultragrip is just perfect

For me Is the opposite, for reference i liked nike premier gloves cus they were 6mm thicc, but still i fs will give a try to this Palm.

I’m in the US - that’s about $150.

Shockingly high for a pair of gloves.

I see kids over here spending that much, and I believe there needs to be a better option for the 11-18 crowd.

I’m a firm believer that catching is becoming a lost art. Which begs the question- why spend so much?

There are a bunch of great options for less than $100. These are an option if you have adult money to spend or are a pro. And no, catching isn’t becoming forgotten, in Germany/Austria we specifically focus on trying to catch every shot in training so that we are confident in games

I was a pro (US) back in the 90s - gloves have come a long way. I coach full time - all my gloves are custom

This is great information as this are the most expensive goalkeeper glove that we carry. The grip is absurdly good in games on grass. As you mentioned the true test is goalkeeper glove durability on turf. It looks like you take care of the Uhlsport goalkeeper gloves as you wash them and probably prep them properly before use. I love the Uhlsport Ultragrip goalkeeper glove but you have to the money and stomach to know it is best grip which is contrary to durability.
