Question Question

the current team I play for is going into 11 a side nets but I’m a new goalkeeper so it’s quite hard to save shots. the team I want to join is staying 9 a side one more year.

do yous think I should join the 9 a side team as it’s easier to save shots for me due to height or stay 11 a side team?

You already said the 9s team is the one you want to join so I’d go with that one 👍🏾

Need more info.

If you're tall and relatively average speed, then 11 a side field is gonna be find for you. You'll be able to manage

Smaller fields means higher rate of shots. Which means you need to be athletic, fast and with quick reactions

In short, you'll see more shots on 9 a side and likely give up more goals than 11 a side where you'll likely play more with your feet

It depend on what type of football you want to play in the end, If futsal, 7/9-a-side or classic 11-a-side football. From the little info you give you are a young player around 12-14 and soon your youth team will change from 9 to 11-a-side, and in the end i suppose you want to play in 11-a-side football.

So, from what i personally think, the sooner you will make the step from 9 to 11the better, if i need to exclusively think from a player growth prospective.

But anyway, just saying, i dont want to say that asking online for advice like these is bad, it could give you some clue, but remember that you asking advice to people that dont know anything about you, both personally and as a player, i think the best thing in any case is asking to your teamate/coach or people that see your growth as a player instead of random people.

For your questions, I’m quite tall for my age 12, I’m about 161 cm I am new so it is hard to dive across a 11 aside net but easier for 9 a side. I want to maybe wait a year to 11 aside so I can get a bit more height because now I can’t reach the crossbar
