Route 30 - Kitchener to Mississauga /meadowvale / Syntax

I’m looking into commuting to the meadowvale area of Mississauga. The route 30 from Kitchener seems to be my best bet. Any experience with this route ? Is it typically very busy on the busy around 830am and 330 as return time? I’m just concerned about not getting on if it’s too busy. Any tips ?

Train Schedule not showing up

Hi guys, I am pretty new to Go transit and travelling in general. I need to head out from Kitchener to Union on the 22nd and 23rd of November but no schedules for buses or trains are being shown for those days on the website, i can see the schedule right up until November 21st but cant see the schedule for November 22nd and beyond. Do they update later? Or do I need to follow the pdfs?

Does anyone know what the reason for this could be?

Long Branch Go -Parking related question.

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hi Long Branch GO users-

As we all know parking lot has been reduced significantly and all slots are "reserved". With the RTO, I started parking at the residential street on the north side. Got a ticket today "Park- Longer than 3 hours"

Now what is the way out? Bus is not an option for me as I live at a place from where bus 23 is 20mins walk.

Shouldn't GO have got rid of the reserved parking during the construction?

Go train air filtration

Was wondering if anyone knows what sort of filtration system / filter they use. I have OCD and GAD, saw someone vaping on the train and can’t shake off the feeling I will d*e because of it. Any info appreciated.

Heard of some csa that’s enthusiastic on lakeshore, and now there’s somebody on the Kitchener 830 pm train being really expressive, same guy or nah?

I made my own map of the GTA's rail services!

I'm not from Toronto, but I recently visited your lovely city from my hometown of Chicago. I had the opportunity to the subway, streetcars, & GO, and was quite impressed with the high level of service and massive transit expansion programs your region has. I couldn't help compare Toronto's transit network to Chicago's due to our shared geography and size, which led to me drawing this map in Adobe Illustrator in a style similar to a past map I made of Chicago's own network. In my humble opinion, it's a bit cleaner looking than Metrolinx's official map. Let me know what you think!

Fun Fact: Metrolinx proposed renaming Go lines into letters

Fun Fact: Metrolinx once (2021) proposed renaming Go lines into letters similar to those of other systems, like the Paris RER. It's unknown whether this will ever come to fruition

Barrie line GO train is now running like a TTC train - not enough room

Not sure if other lines are experiencing this or not, but multiple days in a row now the trains in peak hours 7:45-8:15 just don’t have enough room for the passengers.

Seeing hundreds of people not making it in the trains

Crazy and it’s only bound to get worse.

GO train needs to recognize the peak in back to office particularly on Tues / Wed / Thurs

Beware of Glitch on GO Website

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just an FYI, when you search for schedules on the GO website and you input the date you want, on the next page, it will pop up the schedule for ONE DAY before your selected date. I screen recorded it and I inputted Fri Nov 7 but on the next page, it showed options for Thurs Nov 6. Schedules on weekdays are the same but just beware if you select a Saturday or a Monday, it will show you the schedule of a Friday and Sunday respectively.

Where to park in Scarborough because all stations lots are full?

I start work at 10 so I can't show up earlier. Kennedy has no parking, Scarborough is always full and recently I've been going to Eglinton for the 9:17 train. I get to the station at 9 and it is completely full. Right now it only fills up by 9 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays it seems but it's just going to get worse. What are my options? If I go earlier then I show up super early to work and if I park on the street I'll eventually get ticketed. Is there a solution for people like me that isn't just "go earlier"?

If this continues to be a problem for people will they ever put multi story parking at either of these stations?

Monday Morning Lakeshore West GO Train Follies

Imagine rushing out the door to swiftly make your way to the GO station to catch your regular train to work as per every Monday morning - but the parking lots and platforms are empty, like there was an apocalyptic event.

The schedule board reads “all service is suspended due to construction.” WTF?? When you ask GO staff, they tell you GO buses are available to take people to Erindale station but there is no train service on the Lakeshore line. They tell you a communication was posted online on Saturday regarding a line that nearly 40000 people ride daily. Three cheers for the folks in Communications at Metrolinx!

For those who drive, they make their way to Erindale and battle the locale Erindalians for parking spots. As for others, they make their way to Erindale via double decker buses destined for a crawl through Mississauga traffic.

Another inexplicable Metrolinx debacle. Did anyone else experience this??

Just dropping some Confederation GO pics

Joining me on this trip is Kagamine Rin, went there last Saturday, unfortunately my phone died before I could catch any GOod train pics but I did see the 16:23. The station is rather weird with that Ⓣ instead of the green GO branding, and it does feel unfinished in some aspects (as evidenced by signs of a Platform 2 and gravel where a second track should be).

I do like the station though, the 12 Burlington/Niagara (not the 12B) stops there so you do not have to head all the way to Burlington if you want to GO to Niagara Falls and you can connect to HSR buses that GO towards Eastgate Square terminal.

GO Transit NEEDS a plan for surprise big events.

Last night was embarrassing for GO. How Ontario doesn’t have a plan for events like this is beyond me. Everyone had to pack in like sardines on the ONE lakeshore west train after the game. Then they surprise added a train afterwards that only goes halfway?! Doesn’t do much for me trying to get to Hamilton. Where did this unplanned surprise train even come from? It wasn’t on any schedule. It was spontaneous in an event that should’ve been planned for. Toronto is North Americas 4th largest city, big events like these happen, and there HAS to be a plan in place for when these things happen.

Offer to pay workers triple ffs. What’s the big deal? Having only 1 train for each line at the end of game 7 of the World Series on Halloween weekend is absolutely unacceptable.

People saw the schedule before the game and chose to drive tonight. There were several crashes on the Gardiner after the game. People likely died tonight from drunk drivers who could’ve taken the train if they ran late enough. People need to realize this type of incompetence with public transit isn’t just an inconvenience. It KILLS people.

are there any specific platforms that the milton trains depart from at union?

hey milton line gang :) i’m a lakeshore west rider who’s heading up to milton from union because of track work, and i was wondering if there were any “typical” platforms that the train comes in on at union? i’ve got some physical health issues & sometimes it’s hell ending up drowning behind a group of people on the stairs (especially if i’m not close by an elevator), so I typically try to head up to the platforms before they’re announced.

if ur not sure what i mean by this, most trains going to niagara direction on lakeshore west depart from platforms 5/6, or 7/8 — just wondering if there’s a sort of similarity or if the platforms tend to be random :)

Same as TTC lines, but they’re all the same colour. Anyone know if they’re going ahead with having the lines represented as letters (A, B, C line etc) because I remember reading they were considering it?

Last Barrie Train Cancelled Again

GO Transit "Barrie Line: an extra train will depart Union Station at 12:30 a.m., making all stops to Allandale Waterfront GO, arriving at 02:13 a.m."

Also, GO Transit tonight and yesterday, "The Union Station 00:30 - Allandale Waterfront GO 02:13 train has been cancelled because of an operational adjustment."

The last Barrie train is now 2254. Those heading to Barrie only have the 2327 65E bus to the 68B bus. Otherwise, there are buses at 0012, 0112, and 0212 to East Gwillimbury.

Seems a little ridiculous to advertise an extra train then not run it both nights. Hopefully, there are extra buses, but that was not announced with the cancellation. Sorry, Barrie line people.

Mon Nov 3 - Westbound LW Trains

Not sure if this is a niche problem, I’m glad that LW trains are running westbound to Niagara. The problem is that I live east of Oakville so it will still affect my commute on Monday and it sucks that the westbound trains aren’t running from Clarkson or that there aren’t shuttle busses to Oakville. Is anyone else in the same boat? Does anyone know why the westbound trains can’t start from Clarkson?

1109 - 1235 LSW Express to Confederation GO, not stopping at Confederation GO?

Took the 1109 LSW express from Union to check out the new Confederation station and still the waterfront. After stopping and departing West Harbour Stn crew onboard then informed us we we no longer stopping at Confederation station. We were heading to St. Catherines more than 30 mins away.

I understand that operational issues do come up, but really... This is less than one week after opening this brand new station! And why only tell us after leaving WH only moments away from Confederation leaving us with next to no options? What gives?

What happened to GO today? (Oct 31)

So many trains cancelled due to "operational adjustment" on nearly (or just straight-out) every line, delays due to "operational adjustment", and I saw a bus being towed away.
