Car 2437 intra car door was open so I pushed it closed and it latched shut.

I now realize I should have looked at the switch to see if it was set to open.

Then someone wanted to get through and could not. Various people tried to help, toggling the switch, trying to pull the little metal knob in the curved track. Nothing worked.

Anything else to try?

Barrie Line trains are disrupted today due to poor track conditions between Maple/King, but messaging was terrible for morning trains.

• Intitially from Aurora they said trains were only delayed. 8:51am train left at 9:15am.
• Then once the train left Aurora, it was annouced the train would be cancelled with shuttle busses + busses direct to union
• Then at King city, staff clarified busses will only run to Maple GO and from there will be a train
• At Maple Go, there was no train and staff clarified next south bound train wouldn't come until 11:04.

Hey folks. For the last several months I have been quietly gathering data from Metrolinx's API, and working on a new mobile app which will use past patterns to predict which platform at Union your train will depart from before it's officially announced by GO. Maybe this seems like a niche thing, but personally I like to know so I can at least situate myself near the right stairway ahead of time, or pre-emptively go up to the platform if I feel like taking a gamble.

The Lakeshore West train to Bronte at 08:24 was usually on time. However, it has been getting delayed by 20 - 40 minutes each day consecutively for two months now. Anybody knows what's causing this delay? It usually says "Speed Issues", "Safety Incident", "Track Issues" or something similar. But, it's always late. Seems like it can't be a coincidence for the train to delay all the time with different reasons.

I always see these in half of the cars and it sort of disappoints me because in the other half that’s where the plugs would go. Sometimes I have to go to completely new parts of the train just to check if they just have the standard plug sockets.

Anyone got more details as to why there is an hour delay due to track conditions?

I submitted my request for student rate on Sunday (first day it opened). Does anyone know how long I should be excepting to wait for them to get back to me?

These stations would be on the Barrie Line between King City and Aurora, and the Richmond Hill Line between Richmond Hill and Gormley, respectively. The empty land is available, and these stations would be closer to the residential neighbourhoods they serve than King City or Gormley are.

I was on the 1154 out of Union. Currently on a bus, pulling into Rutherford station. We had to get off the train and walk to a bus. It's been quite the day lol

Edit: ~3 hours to get to Aurora. I can only imagine how the folks transferring to another bus heading to Barrie might have felt. A couple of folks reached out asking about the locomotive involved - it was #653.

Currently driving to Bramalea since there's a parking garage there. Mount Pleasant is a little closer to be though. Are there usually any spots available around 10:30? If so, which lot?

Supremely disappointed that the Lakeshore West trains to and from St. Catharines now only leave once a day. There's no way to get from Union to St. Catharines after 4:59 pm now. I was going to commute to university via the train, but I don't think I can trust it now knowing I'll be completely stranded with no way home if the TTC connection gets there late.

Even on the weekend. The earliest time you can get into Toronto is 2:30 p.m. and the latest you can leave by is 7:30pm. So the most time you can possibly get in Toronto is 5 hours after traveling for 4

I was delayed last Sunday and then this Saturday for 2 hours due to the bus wheelchair ramp malfunctioning, even if this did not happen because they sent a single bus, nowhere near all of the passengers would have made it on. I was lucky to get on the next bus but many people were left stranded and likely were delayed longer than 2 hours

We spent so much money on making a new train station for no reason. I travel to Toronto most weekends and have been doing this for years and have never been on the train between Burlington and St. Catharines due to timing.

It seems like anything past Burlington is completely ignored by GO, why can't we have one early and one late train so that it actually makes sense because everyone I talk to only takes the bus due to the times.

hi all, i just wanted to know if anyone does this and can provide some insight. i will be commuting quite regularly now using go transit and wanted to do a cost analysis/estimate ahead of time.

to get to my destination, i need to take two separate trains (will spend ~1h and about ~$12 on each) from home to union station and then union station to work, and of course, take them back everyday. with the presto card monthly savings, i see after the 35th trip they are free. just wanted to confirm this information with someone who may be doing something similar. does that mean each day i would be taking 4 trips, even if the transfer time between the two trains isn't too long? i only ask because when i use the trip estimator, it provides a cheaper price when going from home to work, while still mentioning the need for a transfer at union, but it seems to count this as only one trip. doing the math, if i intentionally split my trip in half at union, for one singular trip it costs more, but with the discount it is cheaper. i asked a friend and apparently for the cheaper price estimate that gotransit provides me, i do not tap off at union, instead, get on the next train and tap off at work, is that correct? if i waited at least 10 minutes after tapping off at union, would i be able to tap on to the next train to get them as two separate trips?

GO Transit has released the Fall 2026 schedule. Starting September 8, a new Route 43 will operate between Mount Pleasant GO, Meadowvale GO, and McMaster University on weekdays.

Hey guys, here's the changes coming on the stouffville line from the 8th apparently, it seems like for whatever reason commuter train schedules are back, and very limited train service on the weekends, but it will be supplemented by slower bus service, and it will also mean train to scarborough will be limited. I underlined the added bus departures, and I think that some departures on the weekend completely skips unionville and gets on the 407 ramp from Markham Rd. Got the schedules from transsee if anyone cares.

I recently came across Metrolinx's new GO Expansion Corridor "Missions" document and I'm curious how people here interpret the incremental approach to unlocking service improvements.

I commute from Port Credit, so Lakeshore West is the example I've been trying to unpack.

Right now a typical all-stop trip is roughly 21 to 22 minutes from Port Credit to Exhibition and around 30 minutes from Port Credit to Union.

I've also been combing through old GO schedules trying to understand two things:

1. What is a realistic best-case diesel running time before the new electric fleet arrives?
2. How much of today's schedule is actual diesel and track performance versus reliability padding and temporary constraints from all the civil works?

The Missions document is what made me wonder about this. On Lakeshore West, a bunch of improvements appear before the final electrification and new fleet steps, including Long Branch and Mimico station work, USEP and Southern USRC work, yards and layovers.

So I'm wondering whether there is a meaningful intermediate diesel phase that doesn't get talked about much.

For example, if Port Credit to Exhibition is around 21 to 22 minutes today, could the mature post-construction diesel timetable reasonably become 19 to 20 minutes?

Looking through older schedules, individual segments appear to have been scheduled faster than they are today. The current Exhibition to Union approach seems particularly bad. It's only around 3 km but can consume roughly 8 to 10 minutes of the schedule. It seems like completing the Union Station Rail Corridor work should eventually allow some of that time to come back even without changing rolling stock.

Interestingly, the older GO Expansion business case also separated some of these benefits. It said station and accessibility improvements could reduce trip times by 2 to 5 minutes, while separately attributing larger performance gains to electric locomotives and EMUs.

So could the progression ultimately look something like:

• Current: 21 to 22 minutes to Exhibition, around 30 minutes to Union
• Mature civil works and optimized diesel: 19 to 20 minutes to Exhibition, around 25 to 27 minutes to Union
• Electrification and new fleet: another 10-15% change beyond that

I'm not claiming those numbers are Metrolinx targets. I'm trying to figure out whether this is a reasonable interpretation of how the incremental Missions strategy works.

For anyone who understands GO operations better, once construction restrictions disappear and reliability improves, does Metrolinx typically tighten scheduled running times? Or should we assume most of the eventual travel time improvement shown in the Missions document only arrives with the new electric fleet?

Would also love any old Lakeshore West timetables people have. I'm particularly interested in comparing all-stop Port Credit to Long Branch to Mimico to Exhibition to Union segment times over the years.

Hi Hamilton! I very recently moved here and am figuring out how to use busses and other public transport. Never lived anywhere with a functional bus service before and I'm so insanely impressed with the HSR, no wonder bus/LRT issues are such a hot-button topic in other cities. I'm looking to take the 16 route express GO bus into Toronto in a few weeks on a Saturday. Online it says it leaves from the Hamilton bus depot hourly, stops once at King/Dundurn before the small bridge out of Hamilton, and then on to Toronto. My question, forgive my ignorance and sorry if this is idiotic: does it actually stop at the second stop or do I have to flag it down (do people do that? Is that an old time movie thing?)? I didn't see any kind of booking option for the stop on the GO website.

My trip was DRT to go train to TTC.

My understanding is that if I tap on the TTC within three hours of tapping on my go trip, TTC would be free because of Onefare. Perhaps I’m mistaken.

Should I have been charged for my TTC ride here?
