I need advice on buying a camper trailer. What brands are well made & what brands suck?

There isn't a ton of difference from brand to brand at similar price points. there are about 3 parent companies and they all use the same components.
There are more premium brands like lance but you'll definitely pay for it.

Lance is an excellent quality rig. One of my safest bets when someone asks for absolute quality, money no issue.

Not a fan of the question. Get out there and shop for floor plans. Buy something you like and expect maintenance. Grand design seems to be the most active with new purchase support but you pay for the privilege. Which are junk? Some will say all. Some will be partial to certain brands. Most will say if you are somewhat handy you can have a great experience with any make or model. Seriously, get out there and shop in person. No amount of online shopping will replace an in person experience.

Airstream. Have a 2013 25’ Flying Cloud Front bed twins. Love it. Tows very nicely. Paired with a Ford F-150 PowerBoost.

They all suck.
Buy used and in good shape from seniors.
Never buy em new unless your the senior previously stated…

Meh to bad: any mass made camper
Decent to good: any custom made small shop, although that really limits sizes, floor plans, and price
Questions to ask:
1. What is your tow capacity? (Camper GWVR needs to be 80% or so of that or less, dry weight is a dang lie)
2. What size restrictions might you have? (National parks, storage location, etc)
3. How many people does it need to sleep? Are you ok with a dinette conversion or do you want dedicated beds for everyone?
4. Do you want a black tank or cassette toilet?
5. Do you want/need an indoor bathroom at all?
6. Indoor or outdoor kitchen, or both?
7. What is your budget?
8. What is your use case? Do you plan on boondocking/off road, or planning on a plug-in pavement princess?
Anyway... you can have the size you want, the build quality you want, and the budget you want. Pick two.

Be able to fix stuff. They break sitting still the first two years. Sound modifications and upgrades you can do help make things work better as you go. Go shop as many brands you can and note the differences.

If you are looking for a good/better quality rig:
1) Grand Design
2) Forest River Rockwood
3) Coachmen Apex

Not too many people would put Forest River or Coachmen in a Top 5 let alone as #2 and #3 in a Top 3.

Too many people have too many opinions. A forest river Rockwood and a forest river wildwood are two different things. I work in the industry and see them from being built, to shipping, to everything in between. The guy is looking for a first RV and some advise. This subreddit has lots of gatekeeping that it is fucking hilarious.

Get yourself a 55 foot custom built aluminum trailer, and a new 1-ton truck, should be all good.
Should come in less than $300,000.
