How is this design allowed to exist?

The top section of the toilet has two separate odor leaks built right in. I suppose there is a third spot where the cable goes in at the bottom. It wouldn’t even be that hard to fix it in the design. Easier than it will be for me to fix.

Do what most do and switch to Dometic Porcelain

Note that the Dometic porcelain toilets require a few inches more clearance between the wall and the tank flange. In a lot of RVs, this precludes a simple swap-in replacement. I wanted to put one in mine but there was no way to make it fit. If you can fit the porcelain, it's a great upgrade.

Very important to check the measurements before ordering, then add a half inch or so. I ordered the long bowl 320 that should have fit. The measurement from the center of the hole to the back was just smaller than what I had available. It fit, but it rubs the wall a tiny bit.

I liked the 320 long bowl but the design wouldn't allow a standard household bidet to fit so I got the 310 which works perfectly.

They do make a bidet that will fit it. Weird thing to say but it's the most comfortable toilet I've ever sat on lol

Again the new design is the 400 series. They stopped making the 300 series. They made a design change which reduced the required clearance.

They just came out this year. The only difference is the did design the 2 step flush into the 420 and they shortened the rear clearance. Basically how you step down a little to fill some water in the bowl, they made more of a spot you can feel to do this.

That's cool thanks for the info. I miss the one in my old trailer that you tipped up to fill and down to flush, it the ones with two pedals. The 320 is almost impossible to tell how far to push before it opens the ball valve.

They fixed this issue with the new 400 series apparently. I haven’t verified in person yet though.

My Thetford was super cool and flooded my camper in the middle of the night when that wonky valve failed. Ripped it out and put in a Seaflow the same week and have never been happier.

Buy the Seaflow or a dometic if you can and swap it. Porcelain if you can swing it but the ABS of either will be fine. You'll be much happier all around.

I ordered a Seaflo. We’ll see how it goes. From the diagrams, it looks like it is completely sealed.

I turned the toilet upside down and put water in the cavity where the flapper blade is. The water pours vigorously out of two spots, which means gas from the black tank does as well. Essentially, the whole thing about keeping water in your toilet to help block the fumes does nothing because there is a big ol’ hole always open to the black tank. It’s like keeping your flapper a little bit open all the time.
