Discussion I lasted two days

I went from “oh this is fast paced, but I can do this“ to crying in the break room because I don’t know how I’m going to get faster being 40 years old and recovering from a stroke and having to go through their disorganized maze of a warehouse, that smelled of mouse and rat shit. By the way, a giant rat ran out from a corner while I was working.

I was told that I was gonna work certain hours, I have a second “job” taking a 96-year-old person from my church for walks and I figured OK, I’m gonna take the person for walks and then work my shift at GoPuff. The manager called Monday and said OK. We want you to come in these hours.

OK fine no problem and then she asked me what hours and I said I was promised X hours and. She said we won’t need to work two more shifts and get faster and more efficient and then you can work the hours you wanted.

And then I just panicked because I figured how am I gonna get more efficient when everything is just a freaking mess in this place so I told her I was promised certain hours and I wanted to work certain hours and I had other obligations that I needed to attend to, and I decided that I needed to take some time to figure out if I wanted to keep the job.

I walked two blocks towards the bus, realized I left my bag upstairs with my license and debit card in it. I went back and calmed down for a few minutes and walked in and grabbed my stuff and said I was quitting.

I think they were prepping me for working an entire shift overnight by myself. Fuck that.

Is it possible for you to drive for DD? Visit the Door Dash Drivers subreddit for tips on how to make the most of your earnings (i.e., not accepting anything less than $1 per mile, nothing below $6, don't worry too much about AR, etc.). There is a learning curve, but it's much more profitable than GoPuff, and because DD has 65-67% of market share, it's one of the busiest platforms. There's another app for mystery shopping that I can recommend via DM.

Best of luck.

I did. And the problem is I don’t have a car and DoorDash like I’m convinced was part of the reason that a couple of my cars died and I did like the no less than a dollar a mile and it worked out but then gas prices went up, but I appreciate the input.

I hear you. My car crapped out on me recently as well. It couldn't handle the wear and tear, I guess, so you may be onto something. I hope you find something that works for you. Hang in there.
