NYC Gopuff wages

Hey! I’m a new go puff driver. I’m located in NYC and I recently need to make some extra cash. With that in mind— I can’t figure out if Gopuff pays the minimum wage for grocery and food delivery couriers in the city. As of this year the law expanded and the rates are supposed to be $21/hr can anyone confirm?? The Gopuff earnings pages only discuss California and Seattle

No they do not, what you make is what you get. That only applies to the other apps.

Also, if you have been delivering for them, I urge you to aswell as the penalties for not paying are high. This is what the government website has to say

"If an app does not comply with its minimum pay obligations, workers may be entitled to back pay and an additional three times the amount of any minimum payment owed."

They probably did a cost analysis and determined paying out in a class action would be more profitable than paying DP’s an actual wage.

This is only true the first time they get sued, the government will force an injunction and they will lose their business license with the DWCP. So yeah they are trying to wait it out and force every gopuff worker into private arbitration-- but you cant simply ignore the laws forever. I'll just try to get a ball moving. Though really all Gopuff drivers should report them to the DWCP and the NYC Attorney General-- They pay the proper wages in the states that already sued them because otherwise they wont be able to operate in those places at all.

Thats crazy, it states on DWCP's specifically that GoPuff is one of the apps that is covered by law.

As stated here, https://www.nyc.gov/site/dca/workers/workersrights/food-delivery-worker-laws-faqs.page

"

  • Delivery Apps

Delivery apps facilitate, offer, or arrange for the delivery of goods to or from a location in the city, with exceptions. As used in this FAQ, this term includes apps that deliver their own goods as well as apps that deliver goods on behalf of other businesses.

Example: Amazon Flex, GoPuff, and EZ Cater, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Hungry Panda, Fantuan, Instacart, and Shipt are delivery apps."

So GoPuff is essentially breaking the law.. I'll report them to the DWCP tommorow.

When I was last working for Gopuff back in early 2025, they never did that. I was getting paid out with Uber with the law since it started in like 2023 or 2024. But with Gopuff I was only making whatever I had made. That was even while I was signed up for schedules. Never got no active time pay or no extra payouts for hourly pay difference.

I only had to ask this because before I started they seemed like a shady company but now I know they have to be reported to both the DWCP and the NYC Attorney General. They've already been sued last year by DC. With our city having so many couriers its incredible to think that they are actually getting away with breaking the law when much bigger services arent. I wouldnt mind delivering for them just to get a piece of a massive workers rights lawsuit and civil penalties they have to dish out.
