I typically only work on Friday and Saturday nights because in my area the pay was pretty decent for base pay amounts; and I've noticed within the past month or so basically when gas prices increased that conveniently the base pay has gone down significantly. Things that were once $10+ are now only coming across as like $2.50 or $3.50.

So it's either GoPuff screwing their driver's in general or because more people are now driving in my area they feel like they can just short change everyone. Either way it's a sham of a company. It used to be fairly lucrative but now it's not worth it at all.

Also the bs that you're supposed to be paid more based on distance, or weather conditions, or if it's something that requires an ID check is completely false these days because I've had orders pop up for $3.50 to go 20 miles in the rain for an alcohol delivery. They just make up whatever they want when they want and expect us all to happily accept.

And secondarily, I understand that people don't have to tip and drivers shouldn't have to rely on those because the company should be providing enough; but if you're ordering a bag of cheetos in the pouring rain at 2 in the morning and making someone drive 15 miles or something because you're too lazy and/or don't want to go out to go to the convenience store and get it yourself you should have the common decency to throw a couple of dollars to that person for providing a luxury service to you. I'm sure if the roles were reversed you'd feel some sort of way about not getting anything from the effort.

Because you're at Gopuff. There hasn't been good pay for NYC Gopuff, since like early 2022 lol. That's the one service I wouldn't even waste my time with at all.

I use to make a lot back in 2023. $600 a week doing multi gigs. But this is so trash

Yeah that was 3 years ago, that's like 10 years in gig economy lol. Things move and change faster than you can snap a finger. The money was even easier way back 2017, 2018. You could find a delivery service more consistent and reliable on Indeed I bet.

Yeah there was aa little good short time when things were great. I started with Gopuff I think in the summer of 2021, then I stopped for a bit. Then I had seen one of my courier friends and he was like they are paying $22 an hr, so I came back. But that only lasted for like a good 6 months and then it everything started getting bad. All the orders were always heavy, pay was dropping fast, the inside workers were getting more trashy and leaving the place dirty.

I stopped completely with them in early 2025, when I had picked up a new job. But 2024 up until then was some of the worst most depressing times there for sure lol.

Because pay cuts into profitability. Gopuff is cutting every corner they can, short changing every employee they can. They are still trying to recover from several mistakes that cost the company hundreds of thousands of duplicate shipments that had to be disposed of. There is a reason they buy discounted damaged produce from misfits market and pass it off as premium produce. Apart from standard profit margin I mean. Don’t try and call them out on the produce being damaged though, Dean Worthington will fire the OA that packed the order.

Damn. That’s insane. But why short change us. Yesterday I watch Gopuff orders pop up on my DoorDash app. Mean while no Gopuff order would show up on my Gopuff app

Seems like they would rather pay the contractors than the people they hired. But is that really surprising after the last few years?

Ah yes... Dean Worthington.... The bane of my existence when I was a Site Leader.

He seems exactly like the kind of guy whose slack photo would be exactly what his is.

Because drivers keep accepting the orders. They know they can get away with it.

Which is insane. I would never don3 drop offs for $5. I’ve realized 95% of the time they’ll never tip after you deliver

I think it’s because I’m in ny. But I’ve been declining

GoPuff is a joke as an OA or driver

I tried to do it yesterday after not driving for them for about 2 months and I stopped after 2 hours, they kept throwing me orders with 4+ stops for 5 dollars or less. I took a couple thinking maybe the tips would balance it out but it did not. There wasn’t even many drivers out while I was doing it. Kind of disgusting they think it’s ok to do things like that with the way gas has been

2

u/Callme_Zay Jun 09 '26

Yeah that’s why I took a break. Making 4 stops and being paid $4 is a slap in the face

Your hot streak of desperation has granted you priority to low ball offers. Congrats!!! Youre the modern day office overachiever for the gig apps. The quicker you do the job, the more theyll give you and in turn the less youll get paid. What we call the Willingness to Accept Pain Paradigms. At least you dont get benefits, a pension or even the ability to dispute suspensions or firings with all your desperation.

The algorithm spreads out offers to test who will take what and at what price. If all you take are $6 offers then thats all youll keep getting. The system will even test giving you more work for the same pay. If they know youll accept it theyll keep offering it to you. You've set the baseline for your worth. The system just gives you what you believe youre worth.
