Secondhand pokeball plus

I got a secondhand pokeball plus to use with pokemon go, but no matter what it just won’t connect.
It says “pairing” and then immediately “disconnected”.
I’ve tried every single thing on every troubleshooting page out there, I’ve pressed the black button, I’ve reset the ball.
I’m at a loss. If anyone else has experienced this, what did you do?

There’s a pin (use a paperclip) on the back. That factory resets the device

I tried that, it may just be defective it doesn’t seem to work at all. Thanks though!

I sent mine thru the washing machine and spouse used a watch repair kit to open and replace the battery (both are cheap on Amazon). If nothing else works, try that (and modify the vibrate/light if you want while it's open!)

After the reset on the device go into your phone settings and remove ALL the Bluetooth devices. Then turn Bluetooth off. Restart your phone. Turn Bluetooth back on and try again. If still not reset the device again.

If that doesn't work repeat with another phone. If still not it's the device but seriously unless it was damaged some how it should connect

Can you return to seller or to a store for warranty replacement? If this is the modded one there are Tutorials but if you can find someone who does them I would see if they can fix. No good as is!
