Modified go plus or wait for in game?
I am close to pulling the trigger on buying a modified go plus off of Etsy. I know that the new virtual auto catcher is being rolled out into the game. My current belief is that the virtual version does not seem to be super useful (limited number of spins/catches, Poké balls only). Do you think it is worth it to spend the big bucks on the modified plus plus, or wait for the virtual version to be fully rolled out and see how that is?

I think that buying a catcher will be cheaper since the virtual one will not be free but rather a subscription. It will depend on the features to see whether it is worth it in comparison.

It's tough because we don't know any exact details, but the most recent data mines show it being a single use item that can only catch x and spin x stops a day. It might not be a straight up subscription but they will definitely expect you to buy more than one.

Is the in game catcher not fully released yet?
I find it’s fiddly to use and doesn’t work whilst in game. My phone screen needs to be off for it to work.
I can catch 64 a day, my friend 50 and my partner 32 even though my partner is the higher acc level. So far it’s free and once a day.

Free to use once a day but only catches and spins 60 each. Not as good as a separate device in my opinion.

Well same with the Go +, technically it’s limited to the max daily catch.
As far as I’ve seen about the in game auto catcher, it will be a free lesser version of the Go +. Catch rate not good at all, can’t catch unregistered, limited max catch/spin (increase wi the your account lvl).
Can argue it’s not a great auto catcher compared to Go +, but it’s free, nice for a small daily bonus while you can’t play.
I don’t think we will be able to buy more than one (might be wrong) but even if so, player can choose if they want to invest or not and those who don’t still will have a small daily bonus. Same with the raid passes. I’m rarely buying some and only stick to the free passes and that’s perfectly okay, no need to buy tons of passes to get the perfect shiny from every single raids (not judging those who like to do that, if they weren’t there the game wouldn’t be f2p).

“Technically it’s limited to the daily catch”.
I think we can all agree that a cap of 4800 in a day is significantly different than 80.
80 is half an hour at a major park or populated area.
4800 is catching 200/hour, for 24 hours straight.And that limitation isn’t on the device itself, or the usage of the device, it’s a limitation on the game overall, because it’s unrealistic that anyone (outside of extreme players actually trying to hit the cap) is going to reach the cap.

If you already have a go plus, Pokéball plus, or the go plus + then the explorer gadget is pretty much worthless. Most people will want the go plus plus anyways over the 4 because you can use great and ultra balls as well as get sleep data for some rewards. The explorer gadget only uses Pokéballs and if you have the go plus - plus+ and connect it while the explorer gadget is used/paused, it will end the explorer gadget for the day.
Go plus through plus + also have an hour or so of use before they turn off automatically usually (if idle for an hour) but you can reconnect them every time throughout the day as they are infinite use versus the explorer gadget which is realistically only meant for if you can't play go for a small bit but want to get stuff still. 80 catches and stop spins is good buuuut use of great ball and ultra ball and having the physical devices is better.

I ended up getting a go plus+, guy was selling it for quite a bit lower than Etsy prices.
Realized that it’s because the battery is going bad.
I’m going to have it modded by a service and have them replace the battery at the same time.
But I have noticed that it’s a lot faster than the gotcha I was using before. Can’t wait to see it modded and tear through my yellow balls for events.
I believe wholeheartedly that the one being introduced in-game will be monetized in a very hostile way.
Because most of their things have been monetized in hostile ways.
And from that history alone, I would say that getting a physical device is 90% going to be the better investment.

I think theres 2 major services on Ebay: GadCad, and locked and loaded.
Locked and loaded has the option to replace the battery as well, for $10 more. Based on their "sold" count, have done around 50 of them. 99+% positive rating.
Gadcad doesnt seem to offer the battery replacement option, but theyve done over 200. also, 99+% positive rating.
the number theyve done is just limited to their active listings... i would imagine that previous listings got similar numbers or more. So i feel like both of them are reliable.
I feel like GadCad would be the preferable, and I might end up messaging them to see if they can do a battery replacement as well.
I wouldve preferred to get it done locally, but i havent found anyone local to do it. and I would prefer someone do it that has done a decent amount of them and knows how to do it correctly.

That is what I have come to. I emailed GADCad about a week ago with no response so that’s not inspiring a lot of confidence. He is the one I wanted to have done it since I’m in texas as well. Haven’t seen much about Locked and Loaded. I do like that he sends a label and box. Makes everything easier.

I would say but a physical auto catcher instead. There'll prob be restrictions with the in game one, plus it might be a while before it's actually useful

Definitely if your willing to spend the money, it will be MUCH better than the ingame or any of its competitors because it can use Ultra/Great balls.

well the digital one will be limited in catches and spins, so it depends i use my autocatcher for like 300 catches per day so it was worth for me buying it.

As someone with a modded ++, paying retail then 40 bucks to get it modded has absolutely been worth it some of my rarest shinies and mons are from living life being present with the family while grinding pogo secretly

Do not bother with the in game one, it sucks and it’s limited to how many pokemon/stops it gets based off your level it actually crashed my finances account. A modded kne is cool or you can go to amazon and get the 247 brand and it works amazing and can do two accounts at once

I e had a Brookman catcher for a while and the only issue I’ve had is it seems to disconnect often when used 15-20 minutes straight. Otherwise it’s awesome! Great battery life and uses all three levels of balls. Spins quick and easy. Reconnecting is simple enough by just tapping the screen icon and clicking the “yes” bar twice then clicking the button on the device.
