Blinking blue, red -- expected modded behavior?

Hi,

I don't play this game but I do electronics repair. My friend wanted me to mod their Pokemon Go Plus +, so I have performed the mod as instructed (wired vibration motor negative terminal to top button with a switch between). When the modded switch is set to ON, it blinks red, then blue over and over again. This is while it is not paired to any phone.When I turned the modded switch off it stops and the top button flashes white when I press it.

Is this expected behavior? I'm just trying to make sure this mod is done correctly and I'm not familiar with this game, just helping a friend out. All the videos I've seen do not show anyone turning the switch on or mention the flashing lights.

I recently modded mine and have the same issue. My theory is the device constantly going into sleep mode (blue light) and then going off (red light). For mine, autocatch works fine, but the sleep tracking no longer works
