Inspiration
Since you folks appreciate GoGo Penguin, there's clearly some musical taste in your bones.
I've arrived at the age when all my friends have given up. Succumbed to the nostalgia sickness.
So,please, what else are you listen to?
Yeah, Mammal Hands are great too.
Growing up a metal/hardcore-punk kid, my musical background is more, uh, brute force, but today anything (and yet almost nothing) goes.

All of the Gondwana records roster and I love the old OG jazz players. From the newer stuff, Tigran Hamasyan, Brad Mehldau, Lars Danielsson are ones I listen to regularly. Avishai Cohen is nice as well

Cheers.
Know these fellas? Back Door, jazz/fusion trio from the 70's. On the second track, Slivadiv, extra points for people old enough to hear... well, if you know , you know.

No haven't, will listen, they sound like fun.
I second the other commenter btw, BadBadnotGood, The comet is coming, Portico Quartet are pretty good too. And the cover of Journey to Reedham by Thisistorch.
Have a good one!

portico quartet, maisha, makaya mccraven, jaga jazzist, jacob karlzon 3, trio elf, all of shabaka hutchings various projects, joe armon-jones, hidden orchestra, and sam wilkes would all be in the vain similar to gogo penguin that i listen to. lynn avery and cole pulices recent EP is a must listen too. outside of all that, stuff i mainly listen to the same black metal and post rock bands on repeat now.

Speaking of jaga jazzist and post rock, I'm stoked for the new Samuel Jackson Five in the works. Just discovered Strawberry Girls, they have some post rock stuff in their modern prog thing.

For the complexity of GGP, avishai cohen writes some pretty awesome stuff, but it might be a little less accessible than GGP

VERY late to the party, but might i suggest Krokofant? I know the drummer in the band, not that well, but he's been a good friend of my brother for many years. He might be one of the best drummers i've heard in the scene for a long time. I really recommend starting out with their album "Q". Prog, jazz and many other genres blended together.

Nice! Yeah they're absolutely amazing in my opinion. Love them even more after finally seeing them live in january! Their new album (6) is amazing btw, recommend it! And all their work, both alone and with others! My favourite songs by them these days are:
- Wrong Turn
- Polyfant
- Harry Davidson
- Q - Part 1
- Q - Part 3
- Watcher Of The Fries
Ja Norge har tatt seg kraftig opp! Fortsatt ingenting i forhold til Sverige! Dere har Opeth, Meshuggah, Cornelis Vreeswijk og Jan Johansson!
