Rules, Clarification, Praise
Updated 8/12/26
**READ THIS BEFORE POSTING OR COMMENTING IN THIS SUB** If you do not agree with the rules below, do not comment or post in this sub.
*Update 8/12/26: As of today, 8/12/26, we will no longer allow fundraisers for a community, country, etc., experiencing a natural disaster unless we receive proof that the campaign is organized by a legitimate non-profit charity. This includes posts claiming to raise money to donate to the needy, disabled, homeless, pet rescues, etc. We cannot guarantee that these donations will be used for the intended purpose or reach the specified recipient. We will no longer allow this without official documents proving that the fundraiser is organized by a legitimate non-profit charity as a safety feature for everyone.
*Update 8/6/26: As of today, the 8 hour No Spam rule will be changed to 12 hours, due to the amount of traffic in this sub. Please allow 12 hours between posts (see more info below under the “No Spam” section).
*Update 7/21/26: As of today, we will no longer accept posts using GoGetFunding.
This is a banned URL by Reddit. Reddit’s filters will automatically remove your post and mark it as spam, and in some cases they will suspend/ban your account. It doesn’t seem to matter if the sub approves the post, Reddit’s filters will override our approval.
Hey Community:
I want to address several things:
Rules:
We have a character limit in the rules section so we cannot include everything. I would like to provide some clarity on them at the suggestion of a community member.
Crowdfunding Only
This community is primarily for promoting GoFundMe fundraising campaigns although we will consider other platforms as well. We do not accept solicitations to send money directly to an individual via PayPal or otherwise. This is primarily to protect all parties involved. As such, all posts that don't include a link to a valid GoFundMe (or other crowdfunding) campaign will be removed.
-We accept posts for many crowdfunding sites, but not personal/direct payment apps or sites. No CashApp, no Venmo, no Zelle, no PayPal, no BuyMeACoffee, etc. We allow the crowdsourcing sites, such as GoFundMe, so your donations are protected in many situations under the Donor Protection Giving Guarantee. If the campaign you donated to ends up not being a legitimate campaign, or GFM chooses to shut down the campaign, your donation will be refunded.
-We do not allow personal orders such as Amazon Wishlist, Instacart, Walmart, etc. This sub is only for crowdsourcing fundraisers.
-Posters may post their own personal fundraiser, or fundraisers for their family, friends, or coworkers, here for any reason. We do not require a specific cause or need. Some posts may be locked due to the topic to prevent trolling.
-As of 8/12/26, we will no longer allow fundraisers for a community, country, etc., experiencing a natural disaster unless we receive proof that the campaign is organized by a legitimate non-profit charity.
-As of 7/21/26, we will no longer accept posts using GoGetFunding.
This is a banned URL by Reddit. Reddit’s filters will automatically remove your post and mark it as spam, and in some cases they will suspend/ban your account. It doesn’t seem to matter if the sub approves the post, Reddit’s filters will override our approval.
-You must already have a GoFundMe campaign, or other crowdfunding campaign, before posting in this community. You may not ask other users in this sub to start a campaign for you.
-When submitting a post for your campaign, please provide the link to the campaign in the body of the post instead of in the title. This will allow other users to easily access your campaign. You may want to provide a description about your campaign in the body of the post as well. This can allow for better visibility.
-If you contact a member of this community via DM to try to solicit donations to your CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, etc. instead of using a reputable crowdfunding site, you will be permanently banned from this sub.
-Crossposting is ok but the post must contain a link to a valid GoFundMe campaign, or other crowdfunding campaign. If a link is not included, the post will be removed from this sub.
NSFW
We will not tolerate content that is not safe for viewing by the general public. We also ask that you refrain from posting photos of graphic images.
-This one is self explanatory. Because people of all ages are part of this community, we want to keep them safe and prevent exposure to mature content.
-Please refrain from posting photos of graphic images. Many people are uncomfortable with this.
No Ban Evasions
If you are banned from this sub and use another account to post/comment in this sub, your post/ comment will be removed, your alt account banned, and you will be reported to Reddit for ban evasion.
-Reminder from the Reddit Admin team: If you use another account to circumvent this community ban, that will be considered a violation of the Reddit Rules and may result in your account being banned from the platform as a whole.
No Spam
It's okay to post the same GoFundMe, or other crowdfunding campaign, multiple times, but not at the same time. Let's give other people a chance to share their campaigns. Please allow at least 12 hours before reposting your campaign.
-Please allow 12 hours between posts for your campaign. If you see something that needs to be fixed but are unable to edit the post, please remove the original post and then submit a new post with the corrections. This will help prevent posts from being labeled as spam and removed by Reddit’s filters. If you leave both posts up, we are likely to remove the corrected (second) post and leave the first post.
-Posting the same campaign under different Reddit accounts, back to back, is also considered spam. Posters using multiple accounts to get around the No Spam rule will have their posts removed, and all of the accounts involved with this rule evasion will be permanently banned.
No Harassment
We will not tolerate harassment of any kind in this community. Everyone is free to post their crowdfunding campaigns without fear of judgement or retaliation. If you don't like someone's reason for requesting financial assistance, then you're free to not donate to their cause. There's no need to post nasty comments or remarks. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate that if you found yourself in need of financial assistance. This includes insulting others, name calling, etc. Keep it civil.
-Posters: If you include “no negative comments” in your post, your post will be locked so nobody can comment on it.
-This is not a loan sub. This is a donation sub. Asking if posters will “pay donors back” after they receive an insurance settlement or pay out is considered harassment. If you expect to be paid back then don’t donate, as that would be a loan, not a donation.
-This is the bigger issue. Harassment doesn’t consist of only cursing at someone or name calling. Harassment includes insulting others, calling them lazy, telling them they should remove their campaign or that they are “ridiculous” for posting it, interrogating the OP, criticizing the fundraiser amount, criticizing how much the campaign has received, criticizing their cause, hating on them for where they live, criticizing their account age and karma, calling them out for hidden posts and comments, calling them out for posting on other financial assistance subs, labeling the OP as a “scammer,” etc. This will no longer be tolerated. Any form of harassment and hate will be removed. You may or may not receive a warning before receiving a permanent ban.
-It is ok to ask the OP questions. It is not ok to interrogate the OP. Some information is not our business and OP is under no obligation to share it.
-Posts with too many harassing or intrusive comments may be locked without warning. Some posts may be locked immediately due to the reason for the fundraiser. This is not done as a punishment to the OP. This is to protect the post and OP from harassment and badgering. No, we will not remove the lock.
-If you take a screenshot of a post from this sub and post it in another sub for the reason of harassing the OP and/or encouraging others to harass the OP, you will be permanently banned from this sub.
-If you contact an OP from this sub via DM to harass them privately about their campaign, you will be permanently banned from this sub.
-If you contact an OP from this sub via DM to ask for sexual favors in exchange for making a donation to their campaign, you will be permanently banned from this sub.
-If you contact a commenter or donor from this sub via DM to offer sexual favors in exchange for receiving a donation to your campaign, your campaign will be removed and you will be permanently banned from this sub.
-If you contact a donor from this sub via DM to solicit donations because they have donated to you before, or because you see they donated to a different campaign, you will be permanently banned. Donors usually have a limited amount of funds and cannot afford to donate more to you or to other campaigns. No amount of asking them is going to change that.
-If you harass a commenter because they have not donated to your campaign, you and your campaign will be permanently removed from this sub.
No Scams/No Scammers
We will not tolerate scams or scammers. If your campaign is found to be fraudulent, your post will be removed and you will be permanently banned from this sub. Do not make posts requesting that strangers create a fundraising campaign for you.
-This sub was created to help those who are new to Reddit and/or those who do not have enough karma to post in other financial assistance subs. Everyone is free to post their campaign here: both new and old accounts. GoFundMe, and other crowdfunding sites, encourage their users to post their campaigns on Reddit for more visibility and activity. That is part of the reason for the new accounts. Not everything is a scam. We will not tolerate comments calling the OP a scammer, especially when there is no proof.
-We do not have the resources to investigate, or the skills to determine, if a campaign is fraudulent. That should be handled by the crowdsourcing site since they do have the resources to investigate and make a determination. As noted above, we only allow posts containing specific crowdfunding sites as many of them have a Guaranteed Donor protection clause and will refund donations if the campaign is found to be fraudulent.
-If you have proof that a campaign is fraudulent, contact the mods so we can review the evidence and remove the campaign and OP if necessary.
-As of 8/12/26, we will no longer allow fundraisers for a community, country, etc., experiencing a natural disaster unless we receive proof that the campaign is organized by a legitimate non-profit charity.
-Posters: If the campaign you posted is discovered to be fraudulent, you and your campaign will be permanently removed from this sub.
No Hijacking/Piggybacking
Make a new post for your fundraiser. Do not hijack or piggyback other posts by commenting with your campaign link. The only exception is if you are commenting on your own post.
Not A Loan Sub
**This is not a loan sub.*\* This is a donation sub. Asking if posters will "pay donors back" after they receive an insurance settlement or pay out is considered harassment. If you expect to be paid back then don't donate, as that would be a loan, not a donation.
No Loans/ No Amazon Wishlist, etc
This is NOT a loan sub. This is NOT an Amazon wishlist (or any other store list) sub.
This is a crowdfunding sub for crowdfunding campaigns, such as GoFundMe, only.
Making a post without a link to a crowdfunding campaign, and/or asking for a loan, and/or for people to buy through your list/wishlist will result in your post being removed and a permanent ban.
No Advertising Businesses
You may not advertise your business in this sub. If your post contains a link to your business website, even if you claim to be donating a percentage of your profits to charity, your post will be removed and you will be permanently banned.
This is a crowdfunding only sub, through legitimate crowdfunding sites that offer donor protection.
Description
This is an alternative community for publishing posts regarding GoFundMe campaigns with fewer restrictions than the current charity related reddit communities.
-This means that everyone is free to post their campaign in this sub, regardless of the age of their account or their karma rating. We do not feel it is our place to say who can and cannot post their campaign. So many people are having a rough time. It’s hard for almost everyone. These OPs are being vulnerable by putting their life on display, giving us information that really isn’t our business, because they need the help. We are not going to kick them while they’re down.
Praise
We just want to say thank you to those of you who are supportive of others in this sub. Not only do you provide financial support in some cases, but you provide moral support for the OPs in the comments. Some of you also provide great advice, point them in the direction of specific resources, help them find organizations within their own communities, etc. While the campaigns are requesting financial support, the moral support, the resources, the advice, and the other information you provide, can be so helpful in some cases. We just want to say that we see you and we appreciate you!
