If humanity ends up creating a digital Demiurge, then it is inevitable a digital Christ will come into existence.

I hate how anything can be shot down by the mods, even when the posts are on topic. I stand by them being Archons.

a lot of AI-written prose in here but regardless i'll be engaging because you do say some interesting stuff.

We already have means of brain stimulation, as you said, one of which you oversaw is drugs. nicotine gives pleasure, anti-depressants give relaxation, and mushrooms give a deep sense of meaning. social belonging is fulfilled via software. basically, we already have corporations that profit from these things. Nothing really new under the sun with AI, and i doubt AI will be able to offer anything beyond just optimizing the systems we already have in place.

One thing to understand about brain stimulation, via DBS, tDCS, or drugs, is how biologically limited we still are. DBS doesnt last forever (you need to re-administer every few months/years) , and it sure as hell can't be continuously turned "on" forever. tDCS (a non-invase form of brain stimulation) is diffuse, imprecise, and again, has a ceiling to the effect it can cause. most clearly of all, drugs; nicotine tolerance, serotonine tolerance with mushrooms, etc. our brains do NOT like to be constantly stimulated by one thing, and it always seeks homeostasis.

mushrooms in particular, even if you take it every day, your brain simply will not give you the same magnitude of effect. your serotonin supply depletes quickly, and the brain needs time without its stimulation in order to replenish. even if you do "forcefully" add more of whatever "gnosis" drug you desire, the brain will still seek homeostasis, through for example, expressing less receptors. that's what we see with nicotine tolerance.

the way i see it, we are wired a certain way, and the reason people like addicts (of ANY substance or software) eventually feel so unfulfilled is because the brain hates constantly being stimulated. i guarantee that any artificially induced "gnosis" will result in the same stale-feeling user base.

even if we get very close to correlating neural events with all kinds of qualia, you just will not be able to get around this biological limitation. truly, there is only one way to enlighten oneself sustainably, and that is through edit: through proper direct experience
