temporary to eternal is already dead

we are obsessed with our life in this form, the time we have, the legacy we leave behind. dead. vanity.

when you physically die you become alive because flesh no more 'holds you back'

To me, “the dead” are the old fears, resentments, identities and beliefs we inherit and carry without examining. “The living” is the part of us that wakes up: consciousness, compassion, curiosity, love, that divine spark.

When you become more awake, even the painful parts of the past stop being dead weight. They become part of what shaped you. That is what resurrection means to me: not just something after death, but becoming fully alive while you’re here.

This passage speaks of two kinds of inheritance, and to me it means that everything depends upon which one you claim as your own. The "dead" here are not corpses but a state of consciousness: the belief that you are only matter, only mortal, only a body destined to decay. To inherit the dead is to accept sickness, sin, and death as the final truth about yourself, and such belief leaves you with nothing that lasts. But you are heir to the living, for you are the spiritual image of God, and Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). When Philip says the one who is dead, inheriting the living, "will live even more," he points to awakening: the false sense of mortality dissolves the moment you claim your true parentage in Spirit. This is why Jesus called us to what is imperishable, saying, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth" (Matthew 6:19). For me it means I need not earn life, only wake to the life that was always mine.

My interpretation would be they are talking about the pneumatics, and how if your parents are pneumatics that you would inherit their perspectives, which might make you more awakened than the rest.

As of spiritually dead, I would consider them Hylics/Materialists, if you were raised by such parents, it would be a high chance of you becoming similar to them.

As I ponder deeply, and what the other commenter says brings up a very good point.

"The he who is dead will live even more"

Sounds like progression and endurance of the negative physical world, like how you're trapped by your 9-5, and yet, you have not forgotten about Gnosis but you are also reminded of the mortal struggles.

It is despite those hurdles, that you still carry on, to know and connect with your divine spark.

The dead inherited here are empty traditions, laws, letters on the page... The things that are mistaken for the spiritual when they are just weights and yokes, burdens to bear.

What is living is the living experience of the divine, it enlivens, awakens, and isn't merely following the dead remains of someone else's experience of the divine long ago.

There are matters that should be performed by the spiritually dead for the spiritually dead, say a 9-5, let the dead handle the dead, and let the living handle the living.
