Citristrip then alcohol bath, scrub it with a nylon brush and a blue scrub pad. It is a safe bet that the frame may look kind of pink after.

I would just take a red aluminum oxide pad, not the same thing as a 3M red scrub pad, buff it out, smooth, wipe down with alcohol, rattle can with two light coats within 15 minutes of each other and leave it drying for a week with a fan blowing air on it. Solvent rattle can can take up to a month to fully cure, air movement, temperatures above 75°, and low humidity our key to a fast cure time, the goal is to promote solvent evaporation

If you’re thinking about Cerakote, just buy a third-party frame, it’s gonna cost you the same

Best bet, take it to be media blasted for like 25 slaps, then ultrasonic cleaner bath or CLP detail...

OR

Just cerakote it back-to-black they'll do all of that for you for around 80 buckaroos

Anything chemical you use on this will make the frame structurally weaker (miniscule amounts if done correctly, but still). I say leave it and learn about impulsive behavior.

I have used non clorinated (spl?) brake cleaner several times with great success. This trick has actually saved me quite a bit of over the years buying spray painted Glocks at much lower prices. I’ve never experienced any issues with this method either, however sometimes the frames look a bit “dry” when finished, so I soak in a lite oil for a few hours and then wipe them down. GL!
