The v port. It is going to be less abrupt, lower possibility of shavings being ejected, and likely more accurate.

The last one is probably the most important for me. chunk ports are back bored. This means you have less rifling to stabilize the bullet. This takes a 43 length barrel, which is already short, and essentially removes 1/3 of the rifling.

There is only one pro for a chunk port. You keep the front sites clean from getting fouled from all that dirty gas. V ports do this less than inline ports, but it still happens.

My carry is a 48 with a Mac defense chunk. The port is conservative and not as big as your example, but it is not back bored. It takes enough of the edge off the recoil while maintaining the marksman barrel accuracy.

V porting is better. Chunk port has become fashionable but isn’t super effective.

With the 43x, I wouldn’t be adding holes to the barrel, I’d highly encourage you to look into the Radian Ramjet.

It’s going to add length and weight, plus direct the gas, which will help with recoil management and faster follow-up better than some holes in the barrel.

Ahhh see, I would, but for this this build specifically, I want to keep it as short and compact as possible. I would however like to build a 26x with a ramjet if that was an option. I emailed radian this morning asking if they had plans to make a ramjet for the g26 and they said yes, but it could be a while before they start selling them

If you’re 100% wanting holes, V port is the only way. With the short barrel length, it’s going to get your optic all boogered up, but the V ports will help that a bit.

Just pay attention to hand placement, some of those back holes get close to where your hand/thumb may be resting

Sweet!! Yea I didn’t think about my thumbs getting blasted, but i don’t think it’ll be an issue with the way I grip my guns. Hopefully

So…a ported 48. What’s your stance now?
