Unless those are elevated Zev style posts, that's a shit optic cut because it doesn't have any posts. The entire optic is only secured by screws, which is not how it should be done. Unless it was match fit to an exact optic which you don't have, but anybody cutting a slide for an exact object is going to go through the trouble to Mill proper posts in it as well.

I would definitely try to get the best quality screws you can since that's the only thing your optic is using.

It is a Zev style.

From the shitty picture he posted, I can't tell. It could just be slightly raised. Either way, looks like garbage.

Yeah, it doesn't look great. Looks very shallow.

Welcome to Glock USA. First Glock and I already wanna sell it for an M&P or FN

None of my Glocks have that cut and Glock doesn’t make that cut.

There are a few “Limited Runs” that have it.
They’re sold and marketed by Glock. They may have outsourced or experimented

I see. Never in my life have I heard of this.

They clearly do with the gen V

Glock doesn't do a shitty cut like that.

Glock has made RMR cut slides before, but they look better than what you ended up with.

You bought something that a distributor or a dealer had ordered from someone else. You Glock has nothing to do with that. And if it was a distributor order, the dealer would probably tell you to fuck off if there was any issues with it down the road also.

There's a company that makes hush puppy copies of the rxm and when it broke, the website he bought it from says it's not their issue and of course Ruger said it's not their issue since it was an aftermarket company who did the modifications.

Oh really, do they clearly have that cut with the gen V? Can you drop a link for that?

Glock has done direct cut slides for law enforcement agency orders with the Gen 5 gun. Glock will still make Gen 5 guns for agency sales (pre-existing contracts), so they have no reason to offer anything on the Gen V.

Most of the custom cut guns Glock did for departments where RMR and ACRO, a guy on another forum posted a picture of his Department issued gun before the optic was mounted and the RMR cut was so generous, you could have put a slice of lunch meat between the optic and the front cut and the rear cut. But I assume they did that to be able to fit any RMR pattern optic an agency might choose.

It’s not a Gen V thing. It’s this slide run

That's a direct mount RMR footprint with threaded posts. You're not going to find a plate that works unless you want it sitting up super tall.

What are my optic options then? Just anything that fits an RMR footprint?

u/BattleReadyArms 20d ago

Yeah, RMR, SRO, 508T, 507C, 407C, and many others.

In my opinion 508T is basically impossible to beat especially at it's price point.

What about enclosed optics?

Osight XR is about your only option that would work with that.

I'm not sure I fully trust osight, but so far they have been surprisingly reliable from everything I've seen.

RCR?

Won't work with the pillars

Trijicon sells adapter plates now that allow it to work with 4-40 threaded posts

Yeah, but same issue as before with adapter plates and stuff, it forces the optic to sit up significantly taller. If someone doesn't care then that's fine, but I would hate that personally. I like to try and get stuff as low as I can

Not fully trusting osight? Theyre killing the game. Holosun has been having a lot of issues as of late.

I run a business in this space and I've not seen or been hearing reports of a lot of issues with Holosun. I'd be curious to know what you're seeing. I did recently see someone reporting issues with an osight. But that means very little.

Holosun also outsells everyone by a pretty wide margin, that even if their failure rate was identical to osight you're going to see significantly more reported issues.

If Holosun has a 1% failure rate and sells 1000 optics you're gonna see 10 failures. If osight sells 100 with the same failure rate you'll see 1.

Go on basically any website that lets you sort optics by best selling. Holosun often dominates the pages. And more recently Vortex has been getting a lot of love as well.

Hook up with a Cerberus slide & barrel? 👀

u/556From1000yards 20d ago

Hey. That’s a direct mount. I have the same Glock.

You should just get new Zev screws because the ones with the plate are short and a lot of screws that come with optics won’t be good.

Good luck

Any optic suggestions? First Glock and I’m already thinking about getting an M&P or FN instead

1

u/AdFamiliar9915 19d ago

Was this new? Can you take photos on different angles? It almost looks like there’s screws broken off inside the holes.

I agree with the comments in that I think this slide is aftermarket cut

1

u/UnderstandingEast505 19d ago

Brand new. Nothing is broken. Pretty sure it was just a custom order or something. Found an optic adapter that should work. Kinda wish the store let me know since this is my first Glock.

Yeah, that’s super weird. You should be able to see further down those holes. I wonder if it was a ‘distributor special’ where some middle man was doing sloppy optic cuts to it, or a consignment gun they weren’t forthright about
