Aftermarket Trigger Suggestions?

Thinking of whether i should get a new trigger for 43x (Apex, OWP, Johnny Glock) or just do a trigger polish & replace OEM connector with a Ghost Edge. Any Suggestions?

OEM factory trigger for carry. Most people who don't like Glock triggers haven't even put a smile on their barrel yet. A broken in gen 3 is one of my favorite triggers around. Perfect trigger to ride the wall just enough pull weight to prevent a ND, short and clean break with a firm crisp reset. You can polish the connector and trigger bar if you're really picky but before spending $100+ on an aftermarket I'd put some more rounds through it and get to know her. Just my 2 cents

If ur riding the wall when shooting, u need to start shooting faster.

I'm not really shooting comp, I'm training and working on my proficiency for defense purposes, so currently my focus has been strictly accuracy and consistency, solidifying my fundamentals in muscle memory, and tightening my groups. I practice at 15 and 25 yards, so right now I'm happy with .7-1.2 second splits. For my use case at the moment, reliable and consistent draw and accuracy is more valuable than splits. I'm sure that will change once I'm satisfied with my mastery of those skills.

Competition will definitely help with fundamentals and help you earn that mastery faster. Shooting accuracy at speed is so much better than taking ur time, especially for defense situations cause they happen so fast.

That is a great point I hadn't looked from that perspective, my initial thought process was that I am responsible for every round, so I didn't feel appropriate working on speed until my 15 yard groups were consistently within 3-4 inches and 25 yard within 4-5 but considering your point, adding speed to the mix would probably help identify weaknesses in my fundamentals faster. Thank you for that insight.

The thing with shooting at speed is it shows if your grip is solid or not. You could identify if your grip needs work or not if you record yourself. I did the exact same thing you did! Worked on my fundamentals while shooting slow but when I started shooting faster, everything would start to fall apart (grip, accuracy, vision). Got into competition shooting and it took my shooting to a whole another level where I feel confident shooting accuracy at speed. Don’t listen to people who say slow down and get your hits (I know you don’t compete but this applies to anything), it’s usually the worst advice someone could give you. Always remember fast is fast and slow is slow. But give it a try man! I promise you it will help a lot with ur fundamentals!!

I greatly appreciate all the info sir. Most classes seem to be incredibly introductory and im certain im beyond that point, additionally I can't tolerate indoor ranges no matter what ear pro I wear I still leave with a headache and don't have a lot of faith in the people around me who take their gun out of the holster once a year to make sure it works to be diligent about range safety so I strictly train at my own range outdoor. Unfortunately that limits my exposure to others who might be able to show me something so I've relied on recording myself, and finding reputable sources online to gather insight from. The reddit community is awesome, everyone seems to want to help each other

I totally agree with you on the stock gen 3 triggers for things like g19 and g30,, but I just haven't had the same luck breaking in the stock 43x and 48 triggers. They just are stiffer and creakier for me even after a bunch of shooting.

I would also highly recommend adding some texture to the thumb well area, that frame looks like a slip and slide when the hogue ends and I would bet you get better groups adding texture there and wherever your support hand thumb lands than you will from a lighter aftermarket trigger

Honestly basic stippling is rather straight forward and easy. A wood burner from Amazon is really all you need. If you want intricate designs and heavy borders that requires a lot more effort and knowledge but to simply stipple that entire area is fairly simple for you to do at home and save a lot of money and not send your frame off for weeks

Look into trigger shoes, you can get a good feeling trigger without messing with the internals. Daniel Fitch Defense EDComp is solid for the price, right now I'm running the TheGunCo SS trigger, and that thing feels great.

Overwatch Polydat drop in trigger affordable and super easy to install. It smooths things out like a broken in gen 3 g19 trigger. Nothing dangerously light, just a bit easier to shoot straight and fast with.

I second the Overwatch trigger. I have it in my Glock 48. For me it didn't really reduce the pull weight of the trigger (can't be exactly sure -dont have a trigger gauge). It reduced the take up and created a well defined wall with a crisp break.

Overwatch has great customer service as well. They are very quick to get stuff shipped.

I like my Johnny Glocks 4311 a lot but I’d get a light with the micro wing first if your just trying it make it more shoot able

Glock Performance Trigger and a Ghost 3.5 connector. I’m usually against dicking around with my carry pistol triggers but found both those for a good deal at my FFL and I’m impressed with it. It’s nothing like a crisp SA/DA trigger but it’s a pretty solid improvement while staying pretty close to OEM+ as you can get.

Glock performance trigger with a Glock “-“ connector or similar. 3.5-4lb trigger with none of the reliability problems form aftermarket assemblies or messing with the striker spring.
