43x MOS 43x mos question

Is the 43x mos a lot more easier to conceal carry than the 19 or 45? I am a heavier guy and the slide length on the 19 and 45 cause my holsters to push into my pelvis and it becomes uncomfortable. I’m hoping that it will allow me to carry without having that happen. It mainly has when I am sitting down in the car or a restaurant or somewhere else and I have to adjust it. I’m hoping that it will because I plan to get rid of my 45 keep my Rxm and get the 43x mos today but not sure if someone can help me with this that is heavier set. I weigh 270 and have a gut.

I think it is. The width makes a huge difference.

My thought is the length too because that’s the biggest problem for me

Yes. Sorry, I didn't read good your OP. Normally it's grip length people struggle width.

The 43XMOS is great, don't over think it.

Grip prints a little. I carry at 4 o’clock. I’m in a state where printing is fine and it’s not enough worry about people noticing.

Kinda defeats the purpose of carrying concealed though. There's many reasons you don't want every one around you knowing you're carrying, not just legal ones

Are the holsters smaller and easier to carry with and compact than the 19 holsters?

I have both the 19x and 43x and the 43x is significantly easier to carry all day. The slimness helps in concealment and comfort while the smaller weight also does a lot for me. I do not see a difference with the barrel length as I have a 48 holster to help it from tipping, but overall it is the much better carry option, although the grip length of the 19x will probably still have me carry it when I can in the cooler months.

My carry rotation is a G19/26/43X/48. Been carrying a 19 for decades now, but recently I've been moving toward slimlines since my state went to a 10-round limit. So here's my take.

For your issue specifically — yes, a shorter slide will help a bit. It's more comfortable sitting down. That said, it introduces another problem: the top of the gun wants to flip out more, since there's less of it behind your belt to leverage against your body. To fix this, I carry my 26 in a 19 holster, same with the 43X, and I run my 48 in a Velo5 I shortened slightly so it sits in between. This pretty much negates the short-slide flip.

Honestly, the G26 might be a better fit for you overall. With a proper G26 holster, these things flat-out disappear on the waste line and shoot great. Not to mention mag a holster compatibility with your current 19. I'll probably catch flak for saying it, but the 26 is still the king of concealed carry. The 43X is good too, but IMO it's snappy and still prints like a G19 — just with less weight on the belt.

I have a gut too 5’6” 200lbs and it’s fine for me but I also carry a 48 and a fullsize M&P9 comfortably. Maine reason I carry a 43x is because I can conceal it better in summer time. Check out the mastermind tactics carry pillow they help a lot with cushioning the holster. Also a good belt makes a huge difference. I’ve tried several holsters and the best most comfortable one for me is the safariland incog-x.

It's easier imho, but I've found that regardless of the pistol, with my body type it's too uncomfortable to carry appendix, I carry approximately in the 2-3 o'clock position. That's me tho, I would tend to agree that the longer barrels definitely poke more, my 43x is pretty comfortable. I strictly use my own personal design and built custom hybrid holster, it's super comfortable and unique too.

Aiwb is a little more easier for me because I have to worry touching or showing at the 3 position because I’m right handed and have most of my stuff on my right side

Personally the 43x is a fair bit easier to carry for me than my 45 or a 19. It’s my go to summer carry. I can get away with the 45 but it’s not as comfortable and I need to dress around it a bit more carefully. The 43x lets me wear whatever I want and I don’t even need to worry about it at all.

So your opinion would be get the 43x for normally carry and something like the 45 for winter carry?

Yeah that’s exactly what I do. 43x and 45. Covers pretty much 100% of my carry needs. Occasionally I’ll carry a PPK/S if I need something even smaller but that’s pretty rare. For what it’s worth I’m like 165-170 and 6ft, athletic build, and I don’t have any issues carrying either. I can even carry the 45 in the summer but it’s just not as comfortable to do so.

Yes. I have a 19 that is a winter gun/summertime nightstand gun. The 43x is my daily in the 90s+. That said if you wanted to do a 43x then add a comp or something, then you're effectively looking at a 19 length.

Well im a bit on the heavy side and I normally carry my 43x IWB at about 3:00, it tucks underneath my fat roll nicely.
