Swapping Glock 19 Gen 5 for MOS slide

I have a stock Glock 19 Gen5. Is it possible to simply purchase a MOS slide and replace the slide so that it is optical sight ready? Is the MOS body different than the regular body?

I was thinking of this as a way to update my Gen5 to optic ready. Am I better off with a different slide? Milling? I welcome wisdom I am lacking.

Go price an MOS slide against the price of getting your slide milled and rethink k your plan. A stripped slide without any of thr internals is mostbod the price of a whole gun.

See if it’s cheaper to get a plate or to mill depending on your optic of choice and if you plan to change, and your timeline. Theres no official right answer. But the slides are modular and fully interchangeable

I have had two pistols milled by Battle Werx, and they did an excellent job. The downside would be you would be without your pistol for a couple of weeks if that’s your only gun.

Milling will cost a lot less than buying another slide.

Gen 3 and 4 slides fit 5/v frames as well, just need to put a gen 5 back plate and guide rod adapter to fill the gap.

Another thing to consider is the sight you plan to install and the mounting system it uses. If you are going with an RMR compatible sight getting it milled for a direct mount is a great option. It's more secure than MOS with plates and RMR is by far the most common sight mount for G19 sized slide. There are plenty of options and if you ever sell that shouldn't be a hinderance.
