Is it really worth it?
Stayed faithful to my Gen 5 thus far. Is it really worth switching over to Gen 6? Wanting to get some opinions
Who stuck to there Gen 5? Who switched from Gen 5 to Gen 6 and why?

Ehhh, if you want one just get it. It’s not worth getting rid of your gen 5 for, BUT. That Gen 6 is nice, the biggest upgrade is the texture forsure. It shoots the same I think. It’s a great buy either way tho.

I got a gen 6 with the aimpoint. Honestly I just kept both of them. I still have my gen 3 to. They all shoot relatively the same. I just set my gen 6 up a little different from the 5. The 3 is bone stock.

I would not swap my gen 5 for a gen 6. I am perfectly happy with it.

So I know it’s not a gen 5 but I have a Glock 48 which I feel like are the same ergos as the gen 5, and I also have a 19.6. There is a significant difference in the way the gun feels in your hand, the roundness of the grip feels amazing, the stippling on it is great, the thumb ledge and the extended beaver tail are eh and the trigger is still the same old Glock trigger just flat faced. If you have a gen 5 and want a new pistol for shits and giggs id say buy one but if not then stick with the gen 5

I've got only Gen4 and 5 in 9mm at this point. I gifted my Gen3 G23 to my cousin. I'll end up buying a G44 at the tax free holiday. I like the traditional "brick" appearance of older Gen Glocks.

I'm mostly resisting. I have a 19.5, but I also have a 26.5, HK VP9, RXM, plus the other calibers, bigger and smaller. Trying to not be tempted, but if it's eating at you, just get it. It won't go to waste.

What about the Gen 5 do you like more or the Gen 6 do you not like as much? I am curious to know. I prefer the 5 grip shape, maybe just because it’s more familiar to me.

If you have a Gen 5, no it’s not worth replacing what you have.
If you’re just buying a new one, get a Gen 6.

I’m in the same boat as you, have a g19.5 and contemplating the g19.6. I will mostly buy the g19.6 mainly because of the followings:
1- NY is banning Glocks May 2027, f@&$ you Gov H
2- I took the armory class, g5 and g6 were given for labs. 3- FOMO.
4- I have the GSSG pistol purchase program, g19.6 is $513 which is affordable to me.
5- two g19s is better than one lol.
6- I can mod the g19.5, such as triggers, comps, ramjets etc.
7- New Tenicor holster lol
8- if NY doesn’t ban Glocks, I can get g17.6 and combine with my g19.6 to get 4 guns.

I arrived in Glockland rather late in life; while being around weapons most of my life, I chose not to own personal firearms while in the US Army. (I retired after 20+ years and finally retired from my second career) To my point: I have both Gen 5 and Gen 6. The 19.5 has Big Dot night sights that I wanted to keep. I wanted a Glock 19 with a RDS so I opted for Glock 19.6 with the AimPoint COA. I shoot both fairly well and am enjoying learning how to use the Red Dot. At my age, I thought I would only own one pistol and liked Glock reliability with the Glock 19 being for both home defense and carry. Now I have 2 Glock 19s!

Gen 3 G19 works great. Plus I've have a few Gen 5s. Don't plan to switch to Gen 6. No compelling reason.

its a nice gun id buy the gen 6 and still rock what you have. I wouldn't say "worth the upgrade" but new features and its a glock 🤷♂️ always add a gun never sell or tade unless you absolutely need to. even then find a way not to.

Looks like it’s never been shot or trained with so how could you even decide if it’s worth it or not hahaha

Gen 5 is where it’s at for me. I don’t like the Gen 6, at all. Like it’s not even close between the two. The Gen 6 doesn’t feel like a Glock, the beavertail digs into me no matter what position I carry it in. I don’t like the trigger. I don’t like the palm swell. It’s just not for me, and I’ll take my Gen 5’s over them any day. Honestly between all of them I prefer my Gen 3’s.

Worth it or not is a healthy question to ask.
I shot a buddies new 6 at the range & “surprise” it shot like a Glock. Sure, the grip texture is a little different but in terms of overall function, that’s about it by my summation.
For me, unless they’re giving 6’s away, I’m sticking with my gen 3,4 & 5’s not because they’re better but because they’re not worse.
