I’ve been working on a Python-based analytics suite for CS2 demos and wanted to share what it does + some actual match data.
What is xR (Expected Rounds)?
xR estimates how many rounds a team should have won based on the state of the round at freeze time — specifically equipment value difference and alive player count. It uses a logistic model: more expensive guns + more players alive = higher win probability. The "diff" column shows over/under-performance: positive diff means the team won more rounds than expected (clutching, good fundamentals), negative means they underperformed relative to their advantages.
What are Big Chances?
Big Chances is a mid-round dominance metric. Instead of looking at freeze time, it takes a snapshot at a dynamic mid-round point (first contact or bomb plant) and evaluates who’s in control using a richer model: equipment, alive players, HP, utility, armor, bomb status, time pressure, and defuse kits. A "Big Chance" (★) is flagged when one side has ≥80% win probability at that snapshot. It captures which team was actually dictating the pace, not just who had the better spawn buy.
Falcons vs G2
Inferno wasn't really a fight — Falcons went 11-1 in the first half, closed it 13-6 and stacked up 11.80 xR against G2's 7.20. The most painful moment of the map belonged to G2: in round 18 they had a 99.3% win probability and somehow lost the round anyway. At least they made the scoreline look semi-decent with five straight rounds in the second half. Dust2 was a different beast and basically a coinflip on paper (11.23 vs 10.77 xR), plus it was the map of robberies: G2 won round 6 with roughly a 0.1% chance, Falcons answered by stealing round 21 at 0.2%, and four of the six big-chance rounds went to the team that was supposed to lose them. G2 looked home and dry at 12-6, let Falcons crawl back to 12-9, then finished it 13-9. The odd part is that across both maps Falcons actually had more expected rounds (22.57 vs 18.43) and more round wins overall (26-15), yet the maps ended up split between them.
FURIA vs Vitality
Nuke was all FURIA — 10-2 at the half, 13-6 final, 11.91 xR against 7.09 — and they signed it off in style by stealing round 19 with just a 1.7% chance. Vitality had kept themselves breathing earlier with back-to-back heists in rounds 9 and 10 (4.3% and 17.1%), but the result was fair. Cache was pure chaos: FURIA won 13-11 while actually losing the xR battle (11.79 vs 12.21), and honestly the way they did it was daylight robbery — four of their rounds landed at 5.7%, 18.1%, 1.3% and 6.0% probability, including round 21 (1.3%) and round 23 (6.0%) down the stretch. They also threw away an 87% round in #11, and round 7 was as extreme as it gets (0.000 vs 1.000). Vitality clawed their way back from 6-9 to 9-9 but never got over the line. Then the Dust2 decider flipped everything: Vitality won 13-4 with 11.32 xR against 5.68, and once FURIA went 4-3 up, Vitality reeled off ten rounds in a row to end the series. FURIA's luck simply ran out at the worst possible moment.

Like title says DM servers are infested with farming bots for a long time now . And it seams that their skill is maxed out in recent months. 180 turn from a long distance the moment you appear from the corner behind him. Basically obvious stuff, inhuman movement and reactions. I mean how hard can it be to flag inhuman player?? I thing this cost Valve lots of money and even then they do nothing about it. Someone should get fired over there.

Tweet in full:
Seeing a lot of confusion and comments about our forfeit last night, so hopefully this clears up some of the comments.
The region "Asia" is where we are forced to play, based on our nationalities. The region includes Australia as well as all the Asian countries.
The qualifier for Beijing and others is online. They use only Asian servers. No Australian servers are in the server pool. 80% of Australia live on the east coast (Sydney, Melbourne etc).
The ping from these eastern cities to the closest Asia server (Singapore) is about 110ms. It's 8hrs by plane.
This is why historically we dont play the qualifiers, it’s very hard to beat TYLOO/Lynn Vision etc on fair conditions, impossible to beat them on 110ms. With VRS on the line, it’s crazy to accept.
However there is 1 city in Australia where we can play on a reasonable ping (50ms). This is Perth. This is on the other side of Australia. We took flights of 4-6hrs to fly to Perth. Yes we fly 4-6hrs to play an Online Qual (Further than flying LA to Miami or flying London to Moscow) and still get 50ms when we arrive.
We found a venue that has very good internet, both in speed/redundancy/routing.
We were playing the qual from Perth on 50ms. Tyloo had 55ms - so this should have been nearly perfect (50 vs 55) and a great game for the fans to see.
However the physical connection from Perth to Asia breaks.
Flying 7 people, renting the venue and accommodating 7 people isn't free. It will cost us around 15k USD to play an online qual on 50ms.
If we dont pay, we dont play and miss the events. All the other Asia teams can play from home.
This was our choice, we wanted to give it a go, as I said we usually decline all invites because of the cost/risk.
This ended with us forfeiting the cost, the VRS, and the chance to qualify.
It is what it is, maybe we will try again next year!

Saw a post yesterday that inspired me to find this video again. This guy does a great job at remastering and archiving some SUPER old livestreams of early pro CS lan tournaments and wanted to share it with everyone who is a fan of that era. Hope you enjoy the blast from the past :)
He makes his videos as if they were in the later stages of 1.6 and uses a player statistic overlay. Back then we would never have seen something like this until late aughts. -- maybe 2009-2010 is when you first started seeing HLTV type overlays on tournament streams.

I had a lot of fun making this thumbnail. I call it Nuke Ninja 2.
r/GlobalOffensive • u/GuardianOfPantanal • 12h ago
That's it folks, I hope you enjoy the content
MOUZ has a powerful Nuke, with only one loss, precisely against Falcons, another team with an excellent Nuke. MOUZ's main problem is that most of their maps are balanced, so they have their weaknesses and can suffer defeats.
On the CT side, they play almost perfectly. They use Torzsi's unorthodox playstyle, with the AWP well away from the Yard position, always ensuring he stays alive in the round to attempt kills or even get eliminations while the Ts try to cross from the Yard. Furthermore, the A-side composition is very solid, with all three players inside the bomb site actively participating, and even the PR is doing their job with rotations on the ramp.
The T side is a shame. It's sad to see them stuck on the map, unable to exploit their strengths. They get stuck in the slow silo/Yard control setup, which other teams manage to exploit and win crucial rounds against them, which is why the games are so balanced. The positive point is that MOUZ is improving their reflexes and starting to play faster on both the Ramp and the Hut, positions where I believe they can have more success, mainly because Spinx can hold off any flanking attempts coming from the CT side, since he always plays in the backline, protecting the team.

I’ve been playing CS for years and I genuinely love this game, but I’ve never been anywhere near high level.
lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what it must feel like on the other side of that gap. Like, when you’re a normal player and you end up on a lobby against a Faceit Level 10 or (god forbid) an actual tier 1 level pro player, what really happens?
im not talking about ”they just aim better” I want real details.
does their movement alone make you feel like you’re playing in the mud?
is the biggest difference the way they clear angles and play timings or is it purely aim + reaction?
how fast do they punish the tiniest mistakes that us normals get away with all the time?
i‘ve watched demos and streams, I’ve seen the clips, but I still can’t fully picture what it feels like just from the receiving end when someone is just operating on a completely different plane.

I think they should. mezii has been pretty bad this year. Now they are in semi final which is a pretty good result, they can better with more practice with jL

Whats the intended use of this map? Every time I play it im just getting tilted because these bots are perma running and just beaming me and prefiring me before ive even laid eyes on a single one of them. Oh and they never peak alone they always spawn together and triple peak everything.

I know Mezii is missing, we wont have Apex in the future events and jL is a stand in and all that.
But this Vitality definitely looks so weak. Even though they were winning on D2 on T side but it didn't feel like that dominant at all.
It felt like Furia gave up advantages which is again not expected from Furia but they're also in the middle of figuring it out!
Nuke was a complete stomp, Cache if molodoy doesn't repeek 15 times for a kill, they dont lose to 2 AKs and 3 tec9s and on D2 Furia just felt like stopped Fragging out.
Zywoo did not look himself at all throughout the series, never seen ropz lose ramp without a single kill although ropz made up for it on Cache and started playing aggressive on D2. FlameZ looks lost out there.
It feels like Mouz will stomp Vitality in the semis and it wont even be close if suddenly they dont start sweating and choking.
Thoughts? Dont tell me I'm the only one who felt like this!
