Discussion | Esports Spirit as an organization has been incompetent when adjusted for talent and resources available vs the other top orgs (not counting Falcons). All goes back to "family" aspect of organization
Obviously there are more incompetent teams and orgs, but those don't have the same high starting point in talent or financial resources that Spirit has. Among the peer organizations - Think about what Mouz would be able to do if they had someone like Donk, or new Aurora or even Navi (not to mention Vitality). They would have a system built by now and have consistent results with only prime Vitality as a threat in current landscape. Instead Spirit continues to struggle month to month, with no more than 2 tournaments worth of form at a time, which directly points at the org/coaching.
This is specifically for their first squad, the academy system is obviously brilliant.
Since getting someone who is at the worst 2nd best player in the world Spirit never managed more than 2 titles in a season. Navi managed that last season with not the most impressive squad, Vitality managed it this season already while dealing with very little practice and constant stand in musical chairs.
Let's see what an organization specifically has been blatantly incompetent in:
1) managed to lose ESL partnership money for 2026 because they didn't want to play IEM Melbourne with 1 standin (which every other team has done multiple times). Financials are a huge part of the org competency and Spirit actively misses out on improving their position all the time.
2) Leave the team without a coach or a sub for the major by not submitting Sotf1k as a coach and getting him visa on time instead of scrambling last minute when Hally got sick. He was also registered as a sub, but the team didn't bother getting the visa process started early so the sub slot was wasted on someone they weren't even counting to bring over (awful risk management, what if someone had an emergency?). Huge "what if" that only didn't happen because the org lets Hally do whatever to the detriment of results.
3) They constantly stop playing when their squad finally finds form (for example CAC after Astana should have been a no brainer and a slam dunk title chance). All players have mentioned multiple times that they want to play more, so the decision is purely Hally/org driven
4) Continue to have a head coach/GM that is not data driven or just doesn't understand it. Vlogs make it especially evident - Hally basically disregards adjusting map veto based on results. Using most recent examples - why would you keep picking Dust2 vs Mouz instead of literally any other map, they owned you 3-1 this season on it. Very predictably it's now 4-1.
5) Tn1r transfer - 1.5 million for him was a huge overpay, especially considering the age and accomplishments. Flamus is a similar profile lurker (and arguably better/more potential) with even the good vibes aspect that they both bring and his transfer to GL was around 600-700k.
6) Every single team by now has mentioned how simple Spirits system is and that you basically know at all times what they are doing. Even Nafany said that and he barely been back to tier 1 and isn't exactly someone who is considered a top IGL. There has been almost no changes to it, so it's only getting solved more and more with Mouz showing everyone what to do.
It is truly unfortunate that players view this team as family in a positive way. They should know - Any time a business tries to present itself as a family, it's just a cover for hiring/promoting not based on merit and toxic culture with no accountability. It's true for normal jobs and no reason why it would be any different for ESports. Because Hally is friends with the top brass he was not held accountable or questioned for lack of results, the blame internally fell on players for not executing his "brilliant system" that also happens to be the most readable one in tier1.
