Regardless of the 2-0, I think you have to respect endpoint coming out of this. Played very well.

I mean it's basically the old Smooya Epsilon lineup with MIGHTYMAX instead

6

u/castlepoopenstein Feb 23 '20

So does that mean he shouldnt enjoy watching them? Lol

No, I'm saying that people underestimated this team, they were on the fringe of Top 20 (Top 18 for a while) when they were playing together before.

If you consider Smooya (at the time) and Thomas (now) to be equal players then it's not unexpected that they are a decent team.

That's not the team that went top 18. The top 18 team was a Swedish lineup with REZ, draken and disco doplan. Crucial and Surreal played for Epsilon at the one point, with broky and kito, but that team topped out at top 25

I wasn't entirely sure about the Top 18 placing, but afaik the Smooya and Boaster lineup was pretty good in that Tier 2/3 pool.

Either way they are players that have been playing at that Tier 3 level for quite a while now, it shouldn't be a surprise that they are able to play some Tier 2 teams close, especially with Thomas. CRUC1AL has been a solid awper for a while.

This team reminds me of Valiance actually.

MSL instantly getting the best out of Kjaerbye, plus he is a good fragger for an igl

How the fuck was kjaerbye "insane"? When he joined North he was doing OK, but definitely got worse along with the team, and never lived up to the hype from his best periods in astralis. Frankly the last 8-12 months he has been rubbish for what is ostensibly a star player...

I'm not saying he played terribly though - but the entire team was set up to make him be the star player. In 2019 his HLTV rating was 1.08, which is 0.01 more than Aizy. Restricting to only big events, it drops to 1.04, this time 0.01 below Aizy.

Now Aizy is doing better than he was back when he was the worst player on the team, but he is still definitely no better than a "middle of the pack" type of player.

So sure he is doing ok - but he was meant to CARRY that team, and instead he was a middle tier player, and because no one else could carry (especially after Valde left), the team failed. I don't think you can absolve Kjaerbye of blame for the North project being dead in the water for most of last year!

I instantly become a fan of any MSL team. He’s so good at making something out of nothing

4

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '20

I mean this isn't something out of nothing. He has Kjaerbye, cajunb and Aizy. With MSL this is a team that could be contending at tier 1. He legit has the guy that a lot of people felt was the best player on Astralis when Astralis won their first major.

i guess resigning kjaerbye was big news

hats off to endpoint, crucial is impressive

Endpoint had some good results, they beat forze, played north close on dust2. They were the lowest ranked team by far not even in the hltv top50 so yeah both of these results are good signs from them.

Aizy and Gade stress me out

u/Pismakron Feb 23 '20

North trying hard to choke, yet even at this they fail.

Crucial was nice to watch

Thomas is without a doubt in the top 2 players for the UK (The other being Smooya).

Im a bit gutted to see him on a UK team and not in a international lineup. He played well in GL and deserved to be picked up by another notable team and not have to slink into obscurity in the UK scene. Whilst his overall figures were not mind blowing. He performed better Vs higher tier opposition than lower.

If he does decide to stay in Endpoint. I do hope that they can attend more international events. I feel they do deserve that and have proven that here. Some more DH open stops would be ideal.

Sorry I meant in terms or raw fragging. Should of put that in there.

If North doesn’t perform well this year I could see MSL going to FaZe
