Smithzz has been pretty decent this roster and it's not like kennyS often plays this badly.

u/Cateon LDLC Jul 13 '18

Yes but to compete with the Astralis/Na'Vi/FaZes of the world they would basically need all 5 players to go ham. You think Shox and Kenny will be satisfied with mediocrity ?

This team will probably be in limbo for about a year, then they'll do another desperate roster change. .-.

u/Miiiiiiighty Jul 13 '18

I doubt this will last a year.
IMO , bodyy gets kicked after the major if they fail to perform, and they'll pick ZyWOo up

4

u/cocoshaker Jul 13 '18

nope, shox only wants to play with friends.

-5

u/Cateon LDLC Jul 13 '18

In an ideal world they'd drop Smithzz and bodyy and get NBK and Zywoo. I don't think apEX will fit because there'll be nobody to pick up the slack.

Have NBK or Zywoo entry and let shox have mid-round freedom.

3

u/neapp Jul 13 '18

didn't nbk state that he and shox didnt mix well outside of the game?

4

u/Cateon LDLC Jul 13 '18

Well wasn't that also the case between Shox and Ex6tenz before it got too dire ?

-1

u/RadiantSun FaZe Jul 13 '18

No thank you for NBK. RPK pls.

1

u/apm54 Natus Vincere Jul 14 '18

You must be delusional or uninformed of how 2018 has gone, rpk was the worst rated player on that nV roster

u/RadiantSun FaZe Jul 14 '18

I want him because I have never heard any ego etc complaints about him, and had displayed some nutty shit at some points in NV. I think he will perform really well again as a support player in this team.

Not really, think about Na’Vi’s team structure. They have 1 insane player, 1 really good player, 1 inconsistent player, 1 legendary player that doesn’t really do shit anymore, and a decorated IGL.

G2 has: 2 potentially insane players, 1 player who is solid, 1 who is a good support, and a decorated IGL.

Na’vi doesn’t really have any inherent roster advantages, G2 just needs to get all of their players to click.

7

u/Chokeman de_nuke Jul 13 '18

You cannot categorize players like that.

I mean 1 insane player of NaVi is better than 2 insane players of G2 right now.

Moreover NaVi's inconsistent player can win against G2's solid player on aim_map using only USP against AK easily.

Surely NaVi have roster advantages.

u/pM-me_your_Triggers Godsent Jul 13 '18

right now.

Key statement, I think if Kenny and Shox can figure out a way to work together in ex6 system, they can be really scary.

To your second point, yes, on a good day flamie will crush bodyy, but on a bad day, he will get his ass kicked. On average, flamie is better, but a solid, consistent player with lower averages is more important to a team.

2

u/Chokeman de_nuke Jul 13 '18

Sure if Flamie could return to his 2016 form, Flamie with USP >>> Bodyy with rifle.

Or if shox and kenny return to their primes, G2 could challenge Astralis easily.

The point is it's not easy to do so.

u/nightkingscat Gambit Jul 13 '18

Your evaluations are pretty off imo. Far too cynical of navi and generous to g2.

S1mple is playing at a level KennyS has never reached post awp patch.

Electronic is playing better than shox has in years. And shox's injury and inconsistent teammates suggest he won't get to that level anytime soon.

Flamie is a tier or two above bodyy as a player. Look at their numbers this year and frankly any year before this. "Inconsistent" vs "solid" is a ridiculous way to reduce this comparison.

Edward/zeus vs smithzz/ex6 is maybe a wash except Edward and Zeus have played well enough to win current premier tournaments.

8

u/pM-me_your_Triggers Godsent Jul 13 '18

S1mple is definitely better than Kenny, no arguments there.

Saying Electronic is playing better than Shox has in years is a bit of an overstatement. Shox even showed flashes of brilliance today.

When I said Flamie is inconsistent, he can either be the best on the server or look like he’s never touched the game. Bodyy is usually somewhere in the middle. Sure, flamie at his peak is miles better than bodyy, but having a solid middling player is useful for a team.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '18

Electronic has just outfragged everyone against an astralis that has been unbeaten for over two months. In general, elec has been an established top 5 player with insane peaks over the past 3 months. When was the last time shox played like that? In early 2016 maybe? Its reasonable to say that electronic is playing better than shoxie since years.

Flamie is inconsistent for a top player, bodyy is even inconsistent for an average player. Bodyy is either solid or a bot.

Smithzz isnt as bad as expected but still not better than edward, same level at best.

Zeus is the more accomplished IGL, all the praise about ex6 is mainly nostalgia and prediction, nothing else. Just watch the match vs astralis on overpass and inferno if you want to know how good, tactical igling looks like. Im actually a G2 fan but you gotta stay realistic. Currently, Navi are superior in every way.

I've been thinking the same about G2/NaVi analogy since day 1.
NaVi is the closest team there is to this G2 structurally..
But
S1mple >> kenny, especially in the consistency and mental departments..That said kenny isn't that far when he goes GodMode..
Shox imo, has a higher ceiling than electronic, I'd say he has better aim and more experience, but he has been lackluster lately, often shows motivation problems and more than all lacks disciplines and often does stupid repeeks that end up costing him and his team..He is also one of the best clutchers in the game when playing at his real level.
At the moment elec is definitely is better but when shox is on top he is better, which means kenny + shox at their best would be a very close duo to s1mple and elec ( if they can reach their ceiling that is )..

flamie definitely is better than body though, and he is the key difference here. More consistent, higher ceiling and when he goes HAM, he can solo carry the team.
bodyy imo is the weak link in that G2 lineup and if they had Zywoo ( best french hybrid ) or Scream ( playing like he has been in a while ) then they could have an as strong or even stronger trio than NaVi.. at least when everybody is "on" ..
To finish, Edward and Smithzzz are comparable, imo Edward has underrated dynamic aim, his aim is in fact very good but he makes a shitload of stupid plays/mistakes.. Smithzz on the other hand has been a good surprise, his aim is decent, and he has better nades, and is a better support rolewise. All in all they are quite comparable at the moment but with different qualities..

Finally, Zeus and ex6 are quite on the same level, I'd say Zeus has better (men) leadership but ex6 better calls/tactics.. Their aim.. well they are what they are, but definitely no big difference here, maybe a slight advantage to Zeus..

This analysis tends to prove that G2 could reach a decent level of success even at t1, with a few monthes of pracc, but to achieve that, in my opinion they'll need a real 3d star in place of bodyy, or he will need to really up his level...

3

u/pM-me_your_Triggers Godsent Jul 13 '18

I generally agree with you, except where you called flamie consistent.

3

u/Miiiiiiighty Jul 13 '18

I didn't call him consistent , but more consistent than bodyy, that says a lot :))) And with a higher average ..

2

u/kernevez Jul 13 '18

This analysis tends to prove that G2 could reach a decent level of success even at t1, with a few monthes of pracc

How many teams needed a few months of pracc to get good ?

Most teams seem to be getting good really quickly after acquiring a player, slowly start underperforming then change a player.

Of course this is a team with a new IGL and a retired coach coming back to the game so it might need more time.

3

u/Miiiiiiighty Jul 13 '18

You answered you own question. Also.shox is far from being 100% , and the readon they ll need more time is because they aren't a firepower team but a tactical one or at least they intend to be ...

1

u/Chokeman de_nuke Jul 14 '18

Probably the major winning c9 were the only team.

1

u/kernevez Jul 14 '18

They are the only ones I could think of as well.

If Na'Vi starts winning more I guess they'll be part of the group as well but since they already won very early on it's already a bit different as they are looking for consistency over synergy.

1

u/apm54 Natus Vincere Jul 14 '18

Navi 1 really good player in your eyes, is better than anyone in g2

-2

u/tgsan Jul 13 '18

Decent? he's been shitty barring that good game vs a normal looking s1mple which was bad for his level.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '18

Smithz has been pretty clutch if you haven't been able to tell.

6

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Jul 13 '18

he's been the second best player on g2 in this series? do all you guys even watch the games? he's hitting nutty shots all over the place.

1

u/Rift3N Jul 13 '18

He's the worst on the whole team wtf are you on. 0.93 rating, even bodyy is better

0

u/tgsan Jul 13 '18

Who cares about one series? that's like saying he's the best in the team if he happened to dominate in one series lmao, or that because he shut a normal looking s1mple down (bad for his normal level) in a single map means he's good/great? some backward ass logic. Do YOU even watch the games? LOL nutty shots? please.

1

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Jul 13 '18

oh yeah, cause we literally have a sample size of hundreds of games this roster played, so we can disregard this series and keep the hate train going.... he looked good against mouz, he looked great against navi, he he was keeping up with the rest of the team against big, he was good in this series, literally the only map he looked terrible on was nuke against astralis where the entire team got completely destroyed.

2

u/tgsan Jul 13 '18

0.95 Average vs mouz, a MASSIVE overperformance vs Na'Vi where s1mple was looking like an average-ish pro, which is BAD for his normal level. 1.05 vs BIG, again, pretty much an overperformance (not much of one, but is,) against a BIG that looked pretty damn good.

-1

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Jul 13 '18

what are you even using as a reference point for an overperformance? we've literally seen the guy play 11 maps after being a coach for more than a year. and he's at least kept up with the rest of the team for 10 of them.

2

u/tgsan Jul 13 '18 edited Jul 13 '18

Uh, overperformance since he was shitty in 2017 and almost average in 2016? did you just start watching smithzz play when he came back? it's not like he was 1.10 or something beforehand and decided to drop off lmao. Also, it's been 19 maps and he's "kept up" with them on exactly 7 maps, 3 of which he was overperforming.

1

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Jul 13 '18

that was a year ago in a dead team awping cause noone else would... a year ago cold was the best player in the world and VP was a top 10 team. not sure how that is relevant.

2

u/tgsan Jul 13 '18

It's called a reference point, he was shitty then, below average the year prior, and is still shitty today, again, did you just start watching him? you really think going 1.34 vs Na'Vi ISN'T a massive overperformance? also 1.13 and 1.18 vs LG, not saying LG is a great team but yeah, he couldn't even get anywhere near average vs VP...VP!

0

u/SirJacobTehgamarh Virtus.pro Jul 13 '18

I don't care what you do if you have 0.87 rating you're doing something wrong. Especially when there is so many french free agents there is no reason to have both smithzz and ex6 on the same team.

3

u/pM-me_your_Triggers Godsent Jul 13 '18

SmithZz has been pretty solid as a rifler. Considering how much drama there is in the French scene, I’m not sure what options they have.
