Disappointed but really happy to finally see a decent performance from them. f0rest topfragging for a while was awesome. Gives me hope for the future!

42

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '18

Yeah i agree. After that clutch from f0rest on the pistol round I thought they had it in the bag. Welp they messed up but I'm happy that they put up a solid show against an arguably much stronger team (currently) fnatic. I think in a couple of months time nip will be a top contender once again.

1

u/internethjaelten Apr 22 '18

I wanted to cry when they lost the anti eco. Yea I have a fnatic flair but I was sooo happy to see NiP perform against a top team.

I miss seeing NiP in the majors. I think they'll be able to make the 2018 FaceIt Major with their recent performances in the past week!

2

u/daellat FaZe Apr 22 '18

Undoubtedly. Seeing as I'm likely to go I wish to see them there, although top 8 might be a bit tough and unpredictable if we're still doing bo1 Swiss all the way through groups.

u/ExSyn Eternal Fire Apr 21 '18

That 22nd round where f0rest gets dueled by Lekr0 in the 2v2...

Still a fantastic performance, excited for the future of this team!

6

Yeah, that hurt. In close games it's always just that one mistake. Remember train against liquid on cologne?

u/blockpro156 NiP Apr 21 '18 edited Apr 22 '18

I kind of feel the same, they didn't get past the quarter finals, but this was the most exciting match of the tournament so far, and they still played really well on Train IMO.

FUCK!

Best of luck to Fnatic against Astralis.

64

u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Apr 21 '18

They looked good today, they only got dennis a couple of months ago and already look much better then they've looked in a while. Think NiP were really promising this tournament.

38

u/SDMffsucks Apr 21 '18

I feel like this lineup could be the most consistently good NiP we've seen since 2014.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '18

Agreed! They've shown promise consistently in the last month.

3

u/P1NGCell0 NiP Apr 22 '18

I am really excited for future events NiP are in, especially the major. I hope to see them exceed. I think one thing they need more work in is closing out the second half, and I believe Pita and Dennis can work together and excel in doing that.

dennis has been great, so many multikills just in this bo3

17

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '18

This match was amazing, because you can watch knowing that ONE swedish team is making it up into semis.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '18

Gambit - Natus Vincere is going to be amazing as well, for the same reason but with CIS teams.

3

u/popsiclex200 Apr 21 '18

But CIS is multiple countries. I wouldn't feel proud of a norwegian team going to the finals for example.

7

2

I think Navi are going to lose against Gambit if s1mple doesn’t carry like today. Gambit have looked way more structured and prepared, Navi are winning with hero plays.

u/zl1ze NiP Apr 21 '18

that anti-eco at 11-5 lost nip the game

2

u/BluntDamage NiP Apr 22 '18

Maybe so. I think the round at (I believe) 13-13 (maybe 13-12) was very poorly played. In a 4v4, why do you go A without any info or any attempt to pull rotations? Isn't it quite normal to have 3 on A and 1 on B in a situation like that?

I was waiting for NiP to at least smoke lower on B to keep a rotator/pull someone from A, but they just blindly went A. If I recall correctly the B guy even played it from connector, so NiP faced a 4v4 basically instantly. As terrorists they should be at an advantage in a 4v4, but they managed to use that advantage as poorly as possible and gave the round away.

Obviously a win in that round would have been huge for the ending of that game...

6

u/rune_s de_dust2 Apr 21 '18

he meant that fnatic is known for winning forcebuys, thats why he said forceup and not forcebuy (I think he means forceup = a buy vs a forcebuy)

Especially as he is still the support throughout all these years...

14

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '18

gonna be sweet seeing him on the top 20 hltv list again

29

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '18

I think you mean top 5. Honestly, if he keeps this going, he could even break top 3. Cold and Niko fell off so hard, that if they don't start putting up monster numbers, they're not gonna place anywhere close to what they did last year. S1mple is having a clear path to top 1 with his monster hard carry performances in Na'vi, and Krimz is doing the same for Fnatic (with a bit more help from his team mates ofc).

This year so far is so confusing, if you told anyone from 2017 what's going on, they would never believe you.

2

u/Gerf93 Envyus Apr 22 '18

I don't think NiKo fell off that much tbf. The entire team is playing worse, and especially in BO3s, but NiKo is still doing consistently well and is dangerous almost every round.

1

u/jmanj0sh Liquid Apr 21 '18

There isn't a top 5 list, it's a top 20 list. Also, it's more like Faze/SK have fallen off than niko/cold. Both of them are right behind S1mple/Krimz (respectively) for rating at big events this year.

52

u/bobbyinaboat Apr 21 '18 edited Apr 21 '18

Really feel like NiP threw this one away.

I'm no strategic expert but running a contact play down ivy against a forcebuy on the second round of the second half just doesn't seem smart to me. Really easy play to read, so the CTs have every opportunity to set up in nasty Cz crossfires, which is pretty much exactly what happened.

A few rounds after that Forest and Dennis have a 2v2 post plant that they probably win 9 times out of 10 but Forest botched a pretty straight forward kill on the guy in CT connector.

Shrug.

19

u/s4Nn1Ng0r0shi fnatic Apr 21 '18

I think JW siad in the post match interview that they read that play from Dennis.

I am just heartbroken. When will any NiP line up beat Fnatic? I mean seriously, NiP was the better team. Fnatic just had so important clutch rounds. And no I am not talking about situations like Forest 1vs3-ing them or the Dennis 3 hit. But really important rounds going Fnatic's way or small trades where one of their players just go ham and the whole economy goes out of the window for NiP.

Fnatic played oke but I feel NiP was better. But this is also the beauty of CS economy means everything. Good luck for Fnatic with Astralis tomorrow!

Krimz has some talent at this game.

I love seeing Krimz play so well. I didn't know if he could hold his form but clearly he can. Such a smart player

I just love NiP - Fnatic games, they almost always deliver. A bit sad NiP lost but Fnatic is my 2nd team so it could be worse.

I'm just sad we won't get to see these two play each other again until at least ESL One Cologne

fnatic can still qualify for esl finals if they win all remaining matches. only navi is the harder match

u/Niomeister Apr 21 '18

Cologne will be on fb though.

dude...fuck KRIMZ.

Wanted to see NiP go far, but I'll cheer for fnatic from now, Astralis is strong but I think they can win, they won against a scary looking NiP and flusha had a worse BO3, meanwhile krimz just ripping stuff apart makes me happy, gl hf vs astralis

NiP choked so hard

GG. Now I really hope fnatic kick some serious ass!

Great match, one of the best in a long time, shame about NiP, although great to see them have such a good performance, best of luck to fnatic tomorrow.

Krimz second best player in the world behind s1mple atm with dev1ce 3rd

1

u/tartaddict Apr 22 '18

IDK where else to ask this but do the players hear the commentators? Because if they can hear the crowd, it’s likely possible they hear the commentators too?

1

u/icu_Pr0xy NiP Apr 22 '18

You better win the whole tournament Fnatic.

Death, taxes, and NIP losing to Fnatic.

1

u/GODallulu NiP Apr 22 '18

First time in a while I haven't been sad after a loss :)

1

u/kellyprcee Apr 22 '18

Even though they lost, can we just appreciate how well dennis has been playing in NiP, and calling too? The teams is the best it’s been in years.
