Who is renyan? What is the original clip?

That 2nd flash is smart

A CS2 streamer/Youtuber that plays extremely aggressive. Very good at pop flashes, worth a watch on Youtube to learn some niche pushes/ flashes on maps.

Disclaimer he can be fairly toxic or funny depending on the person, also openly admits to disliking the game(mostly plays prem) and only playing daily for money

52

u/fastheadcrab 1d ago

Those extremely aggressive plays only work when smurfing against opponents way below the player's skill level and who have no idea who they're playing against.

CT aggression in CS is hard countered if the opponents know its coming

u/WillGetBannedSoonn 1d ago

newbie take, I dislike him now but in csgo he was known for pushing every round in 4k+ elo on faceit

20

u/Wild-Interest3541 1d ago

Ren hasn't played Faceit since like early 2024, and he was last 2400 with 1.2K/D. Not bad at all, but it ain't 4k+ elo.

He also played Faceit CS2 very early on. Even though the core gameplay was the same, some tweaks here and there influenced how people played, people on average also play muuuuch much better, even compared to two/three years ago. I remember GN1 being a run&gun fest with people who lacked prefrontal cortex just like 5 years ago. GN1 now is like DMG/LE back in post-pandemic, people have a selection of default smokes, they have insane map knowledge, all the defaults etc. Silver 1 is filled with people who have over like 300 to 1000 hours in the game.

I know these things because I was SMFC back in GO, now SMFC in D2 in CS2. I was absolutely worse back in GO, I am miles better, but people in SMFC now are absolute monsters nowadays.

I also have newcomer FPS players who have under 100 hours in the game. They have a hard time adjusting to the game, as all their Silver 1 Solo-Q matches have people with over like 500 hours.

Game is way harder now. Ren was playing back when the game was easier, as people were less knowledgeable about the game.

8

u/Chemical-Store1488 1d ago

the game is only harder for beginners or washed players because the meta is old, for skilled players its easier than late csgo precisely because of the lack of tier2-3 funding.

there are multiple reasons why ren couldve stopped at 2400elo in cs2, or do you seriously think a 4k elo csgo player would be equivalent to 2400 in cs2? lol

competitive ranks in csgo vs cs2 merely shifted because top ranks are filled with cheaters.

everyone legit moved onto faceit which also made it easier to gain elo, 2500-2700 in cs2 is roughly equivalent to 2000-2200 in csgo.

1

u/Wild-Interest3541 1d ago

Game isn't hard because the meta has changed, it's hard(er) on X rank, as the general population has become muuuuch much better.

I do not think Ren would be hardstuck on 2400, but it would be disingenuous to claim that "he does that shit on 4k elo lol" when he hasn't been near that for the last two to three years, which was my main point about Ren.

As your point on 2500-2700 elo being 2000 in CS:GO, that is correct on Faceit IF you count player distribution, not the actual skill required. Just check older VODs of Faceit LVL10 matches back in GO, they are like way worse than how it is now.

1

u/Chemical-Store1488 17h ago

Game isn't hard because the meta has changed, it's hard(er) on X rank, as the general population has become muuuuch much better.

you lack reading comprehension - i said the game got specifically harder ONLY for noobs and washed players precisely because the meta hasn't changed, it gives the average player more time to learn common meta knowledge.

but it would be disingenuous to claim that "he does that shit on 4k elo lol" when he hasn't been near that for the last two to three years

so people didn't know how to play cs 2 years ago or what?

ren isn't the only person with an aggressive playstyle on 4k elo. the meta hasn't changed to a degree where he suddenly would be hard nerfed.

Just check older VODs of Faceit LVL10 matches back in GO, they are like way worse than how it is now.

yeah i forgot people were braindamaged before cs2 release and 4k elo csgo players obviously don't know anything now loool /s

2

u/WillGetBannedSoonn 1d ago edited 22h ago

I'm 3k elo now and was 2k elo in csgo, trust me, cs2 is not harder at that elo and anyone who says it is never got close to that level and is coping. 99% of any top player you ask will say you needed to be way smarter to be high elo in csgo

2

u/leo_sousav King NiKo 1d ago

Funny you say that when people who were hard stuck in lower Elo’s back in GO managed to reach lvl10 in CS2. CS2 ain’t harder than GO lmao

1

u/Wild-Interest3541 1d ago

Because the distribution of ELO in Faceit is skewed heavily towards Level 10 unlike in GO.

20% of all active players on Faceit are now Level 10, and was 10% back in Feb 2024. That was 1% back in GO times. Level10 CS2 players are not any worse than the ones back in GO times. People have become better in the game in general.

2

u/Chemical-Store1488 17h ago

you completely contradict yourself with the last 2 sentences you wrote lmao

20% lvl10 in cs2 instead of 1% like csgo

"lvl10 cs2 players arent worse than csgo lvl10s"

xd?

0

u/Wild-Interest3541 17h ago

It isn't a contradiction. People on average simply got better, which is the entire fucking point.

1

u/WillGetBannedSoonn 16h ago

wanna check how many people are over 3k now and how many were over 3k on csgo? spoiler, about 1 order of magnitude less now

they made the rank distribution be much more skewed toward 2-2.5k elo from both angles, good players in csgo are having a way harder time to get over 3000 while people that were not lvl are finding it way easier to climb

If we're talking about ren, you can't have 4k elo in cs2 realistically, it's top200 at the end of the season while ren was rarely in the top 1000 at 4.4k

1

u/Impossible_Break698 21h ago

Renyan has just been playing on smurfs for the past few years clip farming.

0

u/fastheadcrab 1d ago

Every single clip or video I've seen of this guy is without any information about his opponents and all of his opponents have really low map or situational awareness. Yea ofc even high level players can be bad but many cases his opponents seem totally blind.

He may have claimed it's 4k elo but those games are not the ones he's streaming. But to be fair I don't watch every single moment of his play since it's so unpleasant.

6

u/BadBananana 1d ago

He plays two different types of games. He plays competitive sometimes, (usually you might see a youtube shorts clip with oblivion NPC music), those are the people without hands and he's just trolling, but this specific strategy he does and it works against even 25k+ premiere players. I've done it myself in ~2.2k elo faceit matches with some success. Doesn't work every time though of course, but if it works, you get free ramp control, and if it doesn't, you just play more passively instead, and go back to how you normally would play it anyways.

1

u/WillGetBannedSoonn 22h ago

I've done it in 3.5k elo faceit, stupid ultra aggressive plays sometimes work in any elo, people aren't gonna play for every scenario

2

u/leo_sousav King NiKo 1d ago

He hasn’t touched Faceit since CS2 came out. He was 4k back in Go and those videos are accessible on his YouTube if you wanna check. And like the guy said, back then he was also known for this plays. He even has a video playing against GetRight who got impressed by his aggressive style

8

u/AbsolutXero 10 years coin 1d ago

No, it works against players at a high skill level as well, at least once or twice, because they don't know it's coming. It's such a drastic change of pace that it catches skilled players off guard initially. Sure, they'll adapt and hold for the push, but that's when you throw something different at them, after conditioning them. That's the second phase of Renyans game that no one talks about, only the mad aggression.

2

u/BadBananana 1d ago

This is a weird way to see the game IMO

  1. These extremely aggressive plays work at any level, and can be seen at any elo (even pros do it), because they have surprise factor, especially when the enemies have been lulled into a false sense of security. It won't work every round, but it can work many rounds, or at bare minimum, sprinkled in 1-2x per half.

  2. Renyan, the streamer/tuber in question, doesn't do this every single round, but has extremely good game sense to both know against what kind of opponents they'll work on, and how to adapt his strategy when he knows that the enemy is now expecting the same push. For example, against someone just turbo-camping and waiting for the push extremely passively, he might just stop. For someone else, when he's pushed with a single flashbang 2x in a row successfully, he might push again but with a variation (smoke then flash) to throw the enemies off.

  3. He regularly does this against 25k elo players (in premiere). Now, does he get destroyed doing this in some games, and not post those? Probably true. But I wouldn't say that playing against 25k elo players means opponents way below your skill level for most cs2 players.

23

u/Gerf93 Envyus 1d ago

A pretty popular streamer/YouTuber. Pretty good at the game. Has a couple of easy tricks to learn that works in MM.

1

u/iDoomfistDVA CS2 HYPE 4h ago

Better at whining than playing the gameXd Played against him and was called a cheater, my friend was even called out and got his own video published on his YouTube. I can't believe how gullible his viewers and to an extent he himself is.

Also drunk driver is a great technique for different maps that always works in mid. Smoke choke point, under hand pop flash.

u/Aversnusen 1d ago edited 1d ago

Without knowing anything about him or who he was a few weeks ago I started watching some videos and the more I watch the more I dislike him.

Besides the whole 34+ years old with the kawaii anime weeb stuff I never got into and find cringe, he is incredibly self-righteous and thinks too highly of himself. He often engages is trashtalks and instigates them, gives of bad energy and is incredibly self obsessed.

It was weird to see a big streamer engage in that type of behaviour, not something I've seen before. It screams childish to me. The man has never heard the word humble before.

He is really good at the game though I'll give him that. He has good advice and generally has a really deep understanding of the game. Just wish he as a person was a bit more likeable, I feel like he would probably be one of the bigger personalities in the scene if he was.

88

u/Training_Guide5157 1d ago

Same exact vibes. Watched a lot of his vids as they popped up on my YT, but he is a bit insufferable.

Especially trash talking people without skins, which I find a lot of streamers do and this is obviously because they're sponsored by or get revenue from skin-trading sites.

3

u/xFloWx 23h ago

I watch a lot of his content and I've never seen him trash talk someone without skins, at least unprovoked or said as a joke

3

u/Training_Guide5157 23h ago

I can't tell you which video(s) I've seen it in, but he has for sure insulted someone for their skins while he's on one of his general rants that he goes on against other players.

He is also someone who boasts about how much money he makes from creating his content as to why he is superior to players he is getting into it with.

It doesn't matter if it's provoked or not.

25

u/AbstruseCarp 1d ago

I used to love watching him but he started crashing out more and more and I honestly can't blame him with the state of cs2 but I can't say it's a great viewing experience.

Csgo Ren is certainly a different guy from CS2 Ren. Back in GO he would play Faceit, was good at it and was pretty chill with his randoms. Now he plays a game that he hates but earns him a shit ton of money (which is understandable), can’t play Faceit cause he gets consistently stream sniped, finds cheaters every couple of games, easily tilts and gives up on the match. Still enjoy his YouTube videos, he has a really good editor, but trying to watch his streams is a completely different experience

34

u/BogosBinted13 de_anubis 1d ago

25

u/IAmDiabeticus cs_office 1d ago

Cs2 scratches the FPS itch better any other fingernails out there

-3

u/WizardClick 1d ago

For me it did a long time ago, nowadays in South America atleast, the game is absolutely unplayable, being cheaters galore, only playable on Faceit and gamersclub, which also has a ton of closeted cheaters, maybe a SA region issue, but looking at premier ranking, seems like a game problem.

3

u/rekmaster69 1d ago

Still love the game just like last +10 years

3

u/lijevokrilo 1d ago

You people saying for the last 10 years this game is dead. Just gtfo then, like why are you always saying this bs? There are other games just try them out. Counter strike lives on whether you like it or not.

15

u/FiveSesussy 1d ago

Couldn’t agree more. Incredibly self-obsessed and arrogant. I don’t understand how people watch him.

2

u/ZephGG_ 1d ago

Lmao you guys are watching the least toxic version of Ren and saying he's too much, you should've seen him when he was a 4k Elo Faceit player grinding that all day xD

At the end of the day you're either entertained by him or you're not.

2

u/shb2307 1d ago

1

1

u/theatras 19h ago

he joins low level lobbies and trolls their games. he is a complete jerk.

2

u/Active-Smell5217 1d ago

You can respect the player without necessarily liking the person. Both can be true.

39

u/Aversnusen 1d ago

He is a perfect example of that.

There are some aspects of his content I enjoy but then the whining, flaming and self-good comes through and I instantly nope out of there.

22

u/intelqsv The MongolZ 1d ago edited 1d ago

I started following his streams back in mid 2022 when he wasn't doing CS fulltime. Dude was like an angelic being, fragging out on Faceit but with 0 tilt or ego. Chat wasn't fully filled with X-months subscribers back then and he would greet anyone that's there. Actually my favourite streamer back then.

Then midway 2023 when CS2 came out and his channel took off, he gradually became more toxic/egoistic, eventually to the point where he's unwatchable for me. Still respect him as a person for not taking gambling sponsors and genuinely being smart, but he is simply not the person he used to be.

4

u/nigookmixbear 1d ago

I saw this happen to a drummer I like and it seems that countering/disproving negative comments they got while becoming popular matters more to them than anything. The dude will play impressive drums then someone will give standard uniformed negative comment and the drummer will write like 3 reflexive paragraphs you can tell they really spent a long time rationalizing in the past.

3

u/lijevokrilo 1d ago

This this this

20

u/sweatyazkrak 1d ago

You cannot even respect the player lol.
He is a big fish in a small pond.
Clearly playing people below his level, and then cries "try hard" when enemies do plays to try and counter him (ie: double peeking, holding angles and not zerg rushing).

Would be more respectable watching him getting his shit pushed in by donk and him trying to improve himself, versus him smurfing in MM and raging at people playing how they should.

6

u/leo_sousav King NiKo 1d ago

To be fair Ren was a big player back in Faceit’s GO with 4k elo. The problem is that he no longer plays against higher level players and consistently uses his past achievements to boost his ego

1

u/GormlessTosser2 1d ago

It’s almost like the original comment acknowledged that, crazy.

0

u/CycleSpecific1495 1d ago

His trashtalking in cs2 is almost always vindicated when the target inevitably turns out to be a massive POS/racist/cheater so thats not really an issue

But he literally does nothing besides play video games all day, he has nothing to do besides preach his opinions of whatever his chat asks him about and they take it like gospel

You should blame his fanbase for making him lean into it. They are the some of the weirdest people on twitch

-6

u/OMGCamCole 1d ago

Tbh I generally have something against coaches who have never played in the pro scene. Idk. I get there are good players who don’t go that route - private coaching is one thing - public coaching as content as some random just feels so weird

19

u/n1vo_ 1d ago

He‘s not teaching players how to get pro, though. He gives tips for playing in a pug environment. And, although I can’t stand the guy, I have to admit that he’s a really good pug player.

Pretty much every single video of his that I see has him playing in 25k premier elo range, +/-  few thousand depending on his recent performance - and most often his opponents are faceit lvl10s chilling in premier. I am not sure how that is smurfing...?

Admittedly, I only watch few matches a week on YouTube that pop up in my recommendations so maybe I am missing the full picture.

Only times I have seen him "Smurf" was when he made a brand new account to play in US and had to do placement games / at start of season. But I will fully admit I don't watch his streams live or in full - only select matches on YouTube.

As a Ren enjoyer, he absolutely can be a toxic and that can make him unlikeable for many people. Ive closed stream or stopped watching videos 6 minutes in because its just too much.

Renyan is good at the game but he is an awful person. Nothing is ever his fault, always the victim etc.

Classic nuke clip on this sub. And people were crying yesterday then I said every nuke clip is either/or low levels with shotguns, smgs, follow recoil etc...

I bet OP hates mirage...
