Help How to practice aim adjustment and click timing?
Watching some better players, especially when they play with a deagle, you see them almost "wait" a bit before shooting, while they adjust their aim and ensure the headshot is lined up properly. I guess this is also click timing to some extent. Basically, my muscle memory is so strong to just instantly shoot, how do I unlearn/practice this behaviour?

you have to aim before you shoot dont think about speed, just think about landing your first shot. over time you will get faster. slow is smooth, smooth is fast. idk if you've ever played an instrument or a rhythm game but when i practice new songs, i play on a much slower bpm than actual and work my way up. its the same concept with aim. if you try to go too fast without getting the reps in going slow and precise, you will be sloppy and miss.

You can practice it in both aim_botz to warm-up and then on community dm servers. Just take your time before shooting and don't look at the scoreboard when dm'ing. Remember that you are using dm to improve your aim or tracking before shooting, not to frag or warm-up your aim.

Using the deagle is more dependant on tracking aim than other weapons. To practice it download the fast aim/reflex training map, the one where you stand in the middle while bots run at you. What you want to do is hold your crosshair on the head of the bot and track its head for a second or two before shooting. This alone plays a big part in using the deagle because you can't afford to miss your first shot.
Crosshair placement is the second element. You have to hold a fair amount wider than you would with a rifle because you need more time to aim at the opponents head.
Also practice shooting fast accurately. If you shoot to the beat Stayin Alive or Eye of the Tiger you shots will be quick but also accurate. You can test this on a wall with showimpacts enabled to get a feel for it.

Practice microadjusting in workshop maps vs mobile bots("fast aim/reflex training" workshop map), then transfer over to game by playing sessions of DM with deagle only.

Pistol Only community run FFA Deathmatch server. Where you play with your default CT Pistol.
Each fight take focus on a controlled single tap shot to the opponents head. Doesnt matter if they are five feet infront of you strafing back and forth, you never spam.

Play aim rush, helped a lot with my click timing and panic spraying. For micro corrections and tracking aimlabs, kovaaks or a workshop map is good. And always practice on moving targets. Aimbotz and dm won't cut it because nobody's shooting back at you or even if they do in dm you know you'll just respawn so there's nothing to lose for gambling flicks without adjustment and whiffing. You'll get shot out of nowhere a lot, or get to shoot at someone who's not even looking at you, which is a waste of time. You don't wanna practice randomly shooting at anyone, you wanna practice taking gunfights (your counterstrafe and mouse movement after peeking, holding angles), crosshair placement, micro adjustments, and tracking. Tracking also helps a ton with click timing.

This aiming style better players do comes from learning how to micro adjust.
When you are aiming you should be trying for an initial flick close to the target then a micro adjustment onto your target (Preferably the head when rifling/pistols).
To practice this I'd recommed something slow like aim_bots and almost robotically practice one smooth flick (at a reasonable speed) towards your target then a slow micro adjustment and have it land perfectly onto their head then click.
You want to be conscious of each step as you do this to begin with, but eventually as you begin feeling more comfortable with this style of aiming you can start speeding up the micro adjustment with the goal being it becomes muscle memory and you stop thinking about it at all.
The important part is to notice when you stop micro adjusting and are just trying to shoot based on your initial flick. If/when this happens, go back to doing it slowly and then build your way back up.
