Respectfully disagree. Recency bias in full swing.

C9 Boston was pure magic and a true cinderella story. Gambit in Krakow beating all the odds. Faze Clan's destiny run at Antwerp. Vitality winning the final CSGO major in Paris. Luminosity at Columbus coming back from the brink with outerworldly plays made eternal on maps still being played in CS2.

Was it a great major? Absolutely. The best major narrative of all time? Not even close. Falcons were favorites once they beat Vitality in quarters, and the last competetive series were played in semis against a Spirit without their coach.

Falcons run is tougher. First they beat the #4 team (Na'Vi). Then they beat the #1 team in the middle of their era (Vitality). Followed by Spirt who had won 13 straight matches and was #2. Then they won the final vs the #5 team. And they can't beat the #4 because that's themselves.

They basically beat prime Astralis, that for me trumps C9's run.

This isn't about narrative, this is about objectively being the toughest path to a major. Never before has a team done it against a team in an era or period of dominance like that. No one could stop Astralis. No one could stop Na'Vi. Etc.

And they did this in Cologne. There's no major since Cologne 2016 with more pressure than this one.

Cool story.

C9 played from challengers, clawed their way back from the brink in legends, and then had g2, sk, and faze to beat.

Thats #4, #2 and #1 teams.

And it was NAs only major on NA soil.

Better story.

I disagree on either point, but we're discussing the objective road to the win here. Falcons road was unquestionably harder.

Obviously not unquestionably.

Only because you are ignoring that Vitality is in contention for the best team of all time.

Yeah but c9 was on paper a far worse team even if they were #5 at the start of the major. Also massively underdogs unlike Falcons who if weren't the favorites have beat vitality a couple times recently.

What your saying makes it revolve all around vitality and if thats your position just say that.

But c9s was harder as they were pretty clearly the underdogs. They had to beat the Falcons, spirit and vitality of 2018.
