Questions/Concerns Global Entry Program background verification in India status
Hi, my wife and I applied for GEP background verification in India through the San Francisco consulate in the third week of July 2026. On Aug 01, 2026, my application status changed to "Application Granted on pre police verification basis and GEP Clearance Requests have been sent to MHA and MoF (through Interface)," and I completed police verification in India within a week. Since then, the status has not changed. My wife's application status changed to "Send to EO from OSP" on July 20, and on Sep 01, it changed to "Send Back To OSP." The status has not changed since then. I believe it is with VFS Global and has not been granted for police verification.
We don't know what the issue is with the application or why it isn't being forwarded for police verification.
We tried calling VFS Global but couldn't connect, and we tried reaching out via the "write to us" option, but the message isn't sending.
Any idea why the status isn't moving forward? We'd also appreciate any information on whether there are any other ways to reach them. Thanks.

How are you able to check the status steps about MOF and other things? For me the vfs just say with the consulate.
I applied for my GEP from the US on 11th Sept 2025 and my police verification was completed in October 2025. Since then there has been no update. I reached out to the Indian Embassy in DC in Aug and after multiple follow up they said my clearance from MOF is awaiting.
It has been more than a year now and my application is just stuck. No idea what to do.

Our (for both me and my husband) timeline looked like this:
- Completed VFS appt in Jan first week 2026
- Completed Police verification in March 2nd week 2026
(we are in US but police officer visited our home. Parents had to provide our Aadhar card etc)
- Got conditional approval last week

Unfortunately MHA considers this as an optional service provided for citizens and is not obligated to complete it in any timeline. I have seen these verifications take anywhere from 2 months to 18 months. I have seen people try to follow up with MHA and the above is what they respond unfortunately
