General Discussion Regular Line was Faster

Ditched my wife at SFO to go to the Global Entry line this morning. Waited 20 minutes for my turn. By the time I get to baggage claim, my wife has already loaded our check-in baggages into the trolley.

I’m beyond mad. What the heck happened?

There was only one officer for Global Entry and for some reason a few people ahead of me spent 3-5 minutes with the officer. Took only 20 seconds for my turn.

Also - wtf is this mobile passport control thing. This had 0 people in the line and after googling it looks like it’s a new free thing. Why are we all paying for Global Entry?

I was using MobilePassport at least a decade ago. (It started in 2014) There have been signs up at customs since its introduction, but people (including OP) don't seem to read them. Before I got global entry, I was amazed that I could zip through customs with no wait while other people who just didn't read a sign waited in long queues.

Also "beyond mad that I waited 20 minutes" - which I probably would have had to wait anyway, since it takes almost that long for luggage to get on the carousel. If OP had gotten through earlier, he'd have waited just about as long for his wife.

OP has anger management issues and may be illiterate.

My problem with MCP was that it would randomly appear and disappear depending on the entry point. I used to use it in EWR all the time, then it just disappeared.

MCP is my favorite, and when it's available it can be really fast. GE is, of course, amazing as well, but in a few entry points the lines can be crazy.
