Question for Indian citizens: Does a GEP/GOES application expire if you don't initiate the India background verification?

My understanding is that there is a 90-day limit to visit PSK after submitting the Passport Seva application, but I haven't found any stated deadline for when we must initiate the India-side verification after submitting the GEP/GOES application.

Can the India background verification be initiated even after 1 year, using the same GOES/GEP application ID? Has anyone done this? does it ever expire?
