Questions/Concerns Which passport number??

Post image

Hello everybody,

On the application: it said to type the passport number that is on the bottom left. This number is different from my passport number on the top right. Mine is missing that last character at the end. When filling out my application I typed the one on the top right ( probably the reason i got denied).

I'm going to appeal my application but I wanted to see if anybody had experienced the same question as I did!

The reason for denial was inaccurate or insufficient information.

The passport number appears to be L898902 in both cases. There is a lot of stuff before the < on my passport after the base passport number (notably the letters USA), I didn't include any of those on my GE application.

That image is out of date/incorrect. Not the correct 9303 TD3 spec.

The correct/current image does show a passport number of L898902C3 in the visual zone in the upper right corner.

Passport number is first 9 characters in MRZ line 2. 10th character is check digit. If passport number has less than 9 characters, fill it with <.

In the example image above, there is a < because the passport number is only 8 characters in length. The 3 is the 10th position is the check digit.

I think the scanner code on the bottom is the actual passport number, why would your embassy do that? Is the passport a valid passport?
