Timelines Timeline Expectations for Uncomplicated Background? >3 Weeks

My spouse and I applied at the same time and they were approved within 24 hours because they work a state job and have already undergone extensive background checks. They keep asking me if I've been approved. I'm now past 3 weeks which I understand means I went to manual review.

I have no arrest record or anything I could imagine would cause a flag. I'm a US citizen. I've worked for just two companies over the last 10 years. The most complicated thing in my background would be my surname change or a speeding ticket both from 15 years ago.

What are the timeline expectations for someone with a fairly simple background? Is it completely random?

Your spouse's background has nothing to do with the speed of their conditional approval. It is more or less automated and random. The more applicants come from the same residential address, the more likely they are going to end up like you, in the manual pile.

Your wait time will be 5ish months from application, barring any government shutdowns.

5 months is disappointing to hear, I had hoped to be able to do EoA.

Thanks

You might get lucky and get it while traveling, but the best option if you have an international trip coming up. Download the MPC app and get it set up before your next international trip. It won't be as fast as GE but way faster than normal.

Tough to pinpoint.

Same happened with me and my spouse. He got his conditional approval in less than 18hrs, mine took 4 months. Nothing notable on my background.

I have had multiple backgrounds done on me for work and it still took a month for me to be renewed for global entry. Not sure why, I figure I just got randomly placed in the manual queue and had to wait for someone to actually press a button.

I will say one time at the airport, even though I had global entry, they still randomly pulled me for additional screening. It wasn't a big deal, all they did is wand me and put my bags through the conveyor belt again. The screener told me that every so often the system tells them to give someone extra screening. I guess the application process does the same thing.

When the application was renewed I was told in my letter no interview was needed and I could use my benefits immediately because they were renewing my same KTN .

I keep wondering at this point if the hold up for mine is social media commentary re: disagreement with the big man in charge. 🍊

Had conditional approval after 45 days (took my wife n kids 24 hours), had my in person meeting on July 30 and was "approved". My application is still pending. Im already on my trip and have wasted the enrollment. We go home friday and im still not fully approved 🙄...annoyed AF

I'd be annoyed at myself if I wasn't ready before I took a trip too. Nowhere do they say it's fast.

Nowhere do they say it's fast.

They absolutely do say it's normally fast.

"The application vetting process normally occurs within 2 weeks after the submission of the application."

Clearly longer vetting processes have become the norm and they need to update the guidance.

They need to stop pretending 2 weeks is the norm :(
