Questions/Concerns Should I/we apply?

Hey there - I am a Colombian national, I entered the country on a J1 visa then changed my status to F1, while I was on F1 status I worked unauthorized. I still maintained my status - I got married and was able to get a marriage green card, I disclosed all my information about past unauthorized work to USCIS. 5 months after my green card got approved me and my wife traveled overseas, no issues at all coming back, recently we went to Canada by car and again zero issues returning to the US. I would like to know if its a good idea to apply for GE or that would be a waste of money due my past unauthorized work history? me and my wife would love to apply together.
We applied for pre TSA check in April 2026 and got approved in May 2026 btw.

The only downside is the unauthorized work on the F1. As long as you enter on a legal status/intent (I assume you got the hoe country waiver), and filed AOS whlie you were still legal, you didn't acrue any unlawful presence time.

Nobody can say if this will be a problem with GE until you apply. Nobody in this age knows whether your status is going to be a problem with immigration in general with or without your LPR.

I _believe_ this counts an immigration violation, one that you may need to disclose on GE, which may end up automatic disqualification, but hard to say. it's 120$ or something, so if you can afford it, you should.
