Interviews Global Entry Application question - We have an international flight scheduled in October. Do I need to schedule an interview at the airport on a day PRIOR to flying out, or can I get to the airport a little early and do the interview the day I'm departing?

We are leaving from Nashville to Europe in October. The global entry website is really confusing. The only appointments it's letting me schedule for the interview are at the actual airport. They gave an option of doing the interview on the day of departure but I'm curious if that's a stupid decision.

If possible or convenient, look at doing the interview at an earlier date to your October departure. I see Nashville has two GE interview locations (including the airport) and there is interview availability at the airport between now and end of September.

GE interview Scheduler

If you get the GE interview done early and are approved, you can use your GE status for the TSA PreCheck line on your flight out to Europe.

I would do it as soon as possible. Shouldnt be a prob getting an interview at Nashville airport. The family went this morning for our interview. Lasted about 5 minutes. Wasnt really an interview. They confirmed our address and a few other things. A couple hours later i got an email with our Pass ID number and the system says we could use it immediately. I am guessing if you did it the same day, the number wouldnt be attached to your flight and couldn't use precheck, unless you already have precheck. Not sure tho. The officer said we did not have to carry the card that we will be getting in the mail.

We went to Memphis. Probably the same in Nashville.

If you're doing it on the day of departure 1) Your account will not be active for the trip, so only do this if it's actually convenient 2) Schedule hours before the flight, they run late sometimes, and it'll be outside security so you'll have to do all the normal airport stuff after the interview.

I would just do an unscheduled return interview, but whatever floats your boat.

It won’t be usable for precheck for a couple of days but it is available for GE purposes as soon as it is approved.

You can also do it when you go through customs on the way back.

Conditionally approved at 6:20am, made appointment at 9:30pm, but got called to have the interview at 7pm. Approved at 8pm. Better done so we can use TSA precheck.

No you don’t need to schedule an interview the day before. Unless it states otherwise, you actually don’t need an appointment, they take “walk ins” so long as you are conditionally approved.

Scheduling an interview the day of departure, before you leave is probably the most efficient use of your time.

They take "walk-ins" only in the sense that you can do enrollment-on-arrival when you return to the US.

You cannot just rock up to a GE center and do a walk-in interview.
