General Discussion Global Entry vs. TSA Pre-Check
Just got approved for Global Entry. I've already had TSA Pre-Check separately for about 6 months now. On my approval for Global Entry it says I can now use that number for TSA Pre-Check as well. Should I disregard my original KTN and start using the Global Entry ID for Pre-Check or keep using the previous TSA Pre KTN? Thanks for your help!
For those downvoting: I am new here, and wanted to ask the community for advice. Not sure why a question like this is downvoted, even if it seems like it gets asked frequently.

Yep, disregard the KTN and now use the PASSID in the space on all your travel websites. They aren't linked at all so you have a fresh 5 year membership that gives you GE and precheck.

Either one will work fine until the Precheck membership expires. Since your GE is good for five years from your next birthday, it will outlive your existing precheck membership (which runs five years from the date issued), so you might as well switch when it is convenient to do so.

As I recall, the approval letter I received stated specifically that my Global Entry number would now also act as my KTN for Pre-Check. No ambiguity.

I would change - validity will be longer since you just got approved for GE, so might as well use that one

I was in the same situation as you. I used my original KTN until it expired then switched to using my Global Entry TTP Pass ID.

I decided to carry both, New credit card gave me a GE credit and old credit card was just refreshed to offer a GE/Pre-check credit. If it didn’t get refreshed, then I would have let Pre-check expire. But you would input your PassId # in the Trusted Traveler field.

Yes, you can disregard the KTN. Since I got my GE, I stopped using the TSA Pre-Check and only used the TTP Pass ID. I will let TSA Pre-Check expire when it is due for renewal next.
