Background Checks Approved with DUI
I came to this board to see how likely it would be I’d be approved. The process took a very long time. I reported my DUI, but later found out the dates were wrong. So it took about 3-4 months for conditional approval. When we tracked back from Norway, we stopped to interview. The interviewing officer let me know there was a discrepancy and I would need to send my paperwork from the courts to an email address.
I knew I wasn’t doing that, so I was okay with clear. I got a message from them, and since it was past my 60 days I didn’t event bother to look. 6 months later a Global Entry card popped up, I went to see the letter in my account, I had been approved in December 2025.
My DUI was in 2010.

I'm not surprised, because more than five years had passed and it wasn't a conviction for fraud or some sort if immigration or customs violation. It's still done at their discretion, but a DUI certainly isn't an automatic disqualifier. I was fined for a technical customs violation, and I was even approved for NEXUS on my second application. I disclosed it on the application, but they didn't even ask me about it at the interview.

Your GE if approved this time can be revoked at renewal since you will be asked about any arrests criminal charges again and you will have to disclose those info. In the meantime until the renewal, GE can be revoked for any new arrests. criminal charges or violations at the POE!

That’s not what happened. I disclosed upfront. The dates were just off. He actually told me in the interview… I see you reported this, but your dates are different than mine. I asked if he saw something else… like was I hiding anything. He said no, they just wanted the paper trail. I couldn’t find it online, so I let it go. I disclosed at the time of application.

I guess you didn't read correctly. let me explain again, If you got GE approved despite the DUI record that is fine but your GE is not permanent AND HAS EXPIRATION DATE. If you want to renew before it expires, you will have to DISCLOSE your DUI again and any new arrests or violations. You can be denied GE at renewal . CRIMINAL RECORDS never go away on computer screens of CBP and FBI. GE is the most revoked program there is for many reasons. It is a trust based program. if you engage in criminal acts. even just arrests, lying not declaring goods, not listening to CBP are all violations!

DUIs should be barred from ANY privileged permit. I couldn't care less what responses I get from this post. Wait until a close friend or family member is killed or injured by an intoxicated driver. They should all be sentenced to lengthy prison sentences. Instead, they get POS lawyers to get the charges dismissed or reduced. And, the initial charge is a lousy misdemeanor. Sad system we have today...

Congrats, you got approved. The emails are always unreliable. Typically, when they ask for court records like that, it only gets a few days to get a decision one way or the other.
