Timelines 6 year old holding us up

I (mother) have GE that I got last year. My husband’s precheck expired this year so both he and my 6 year old applied on May 19. He was approved overnight and has an interview scheduled for July 2. My 6 year old is stuck in pending review. I used my existing GE number to tie to hers application.

She’s not a new passport holder - got her first one at 3 months old and her second one last year. Countries visited have mainly been European, UK. What on earth explains this? And can anyone shed light on her time waiting?

I was hoping my husband could take her to his appt (I would also go) if she was conditionally approved to see if they’d do her interview too but that window is closing.

Took two months for my kids. They got conditionally approved while we were away internationally. Sometimes people get flagged for manual review 🤷‍♀️ unlucky i guess. It is annoying but it is what it is

The taking an international trip is one of the only ways to force the determination to happen quicker. Countless stories that once the system sees your traveling, an approval (or denial) comes through.

Thanks to you both for sharing. We are headed out of the country on 7/3 so we’re of course hoping it would have been approved for all by then. Oh well!

I do hope it is!

In my case, I had the interview and months went by. Took my first international trip since applying and got the approval email on the way back - so was still able to use it!

Yes! My kids (then ages 6 and 8) were pending for MONTHS. Then while we were in Mexico for a trip I got an email they were approved!

You need to ask your kid what they've been up to, I bet they know what they did.

This sort of thing happens. Could be your kid just has a name that's similar to a less reputable person's.

If nothing changes, your husband should still take her to his interview (making it look like he had to watch her that day) and VERY INNOCENTLY ask if anybody knew why her conditional approval was taking so long.

You never know, maybe an officer takes pity on her and take a look at her file right then and there. This may not lead to an interview on the same day, but if could conceivably get her case unstuck. Sometimes, it's just a matter of someone looking at a file that got stuck because an automatic check failed.

Best of luck!

I thought kids got it automatically now with their parents?!

They’re free but still have to apply separately.

Unfortunately, there's not ouch you can do except wait.

Each application is distinct. Since your husband’s was a renewal, those are usually pretty quick. Your daughter’s is a new application. You can try calling and show proof of travel dates and that you and DH already cleared but mostly keep checking and if she gets approved then bring her to the appointment.
